I've tried feeding kittens with syringe and bottle they don't like it and wont take it any advice would be great thank you
The bottle will not feel like mommy. I have found by holding the bottle close to your palm so the kittens can use their paws on your palm to think they are drinking from the mommy. The syringe trickle down the side of the mouth. How is Molly and the babies tummies. You need to balance the feedings as to not over feed the tummy if the belly feel firm then wait as you don't want to burst their tummies.I've tried feeding kittens with syringe and bottle they don't like it and wont take it any advice would be great thank you
Is she eating dry food or moist? I hope this helps. you might add to your page a list of how much water Molly is drinking.Lets try to count the total need of water: the kittens shall have at least 8ml/oz a day. So at this moment they get at least 24 ml apiece. say 100 ml alltogether. How often do I give her it pls and how much
The mom needs as minimum 70 ml/ kg a day. Lets say she is 4kg, gives about 300 ml a day - alike two coffe cups.
So the absolute minimum will be 400 ml a day. [300 for her body funktions +100 for them kittens] As you see, I have every time rounded upwards, but she is after all lactacing and does needs more than an average neutered male.
Some of the water she gets with food. In wet food there is quite much water. In dry food almost none.
Also, if she gets a little too much water and nutrising fluids doesnt matter, she will just pee it out. Its the too little which is dangerous. Dehydration is never good.
So, you may count for yourself... If she isnt eating lotsa of food containing much water, you must safeguard she gets fluids another way, even if it would meant forcefeeding.
If her food is wet food, normally she wouldnt need much extra. Here she needs extra as she is lactacing, but if she ates wet food, drinks on her own, AND gets extra with syringe, I do hope now its OK, and her emptied reserves are now OK fully again. She's eating wet food . Drank on her own once/ twice but a big step for this afternoon .she seems to manage 20ml with the syringe and then fights it's and pushes away .growls and gets upset
Mineral water contains enough with different salts - that is the point of using minerale water, you get both different salts "electrolytes", and fully sufficient amount..I'm worried about the salt and sugar going into her with the kittens . I've been using
2 cups bottled mineral water
5 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Boiled cooled and given
