Yes, there's no need to worry about how much she sleeps, it's healthy. It also means that she feels safe around you, as she should.

And no, I don't think they'll start taking care of her, either. They've shown no signs of responsibility so far, that I can see. I do hope they don't have any children, and I'm very glad that you have a mum and dad who love you and take proper care of you. Different species have different needs in such matters as food and sleep and so forth, but when it comes right down to it we all need the exact same things that our pets need -- to be loved and cared for.

So what is your cat's name?

I'm not sure what caused that. Most likely either she got in a fight or caught under a fence/bush or something. So long as the skin is intact (not cut/scratched etc) I wouldn't worry too much. If there is a cut bathe the area with warm salty water if you can, and do it once or twice a day until the skin heals (it might be a good idea to do this tonight in any case, just to be safe). This should clean the area and help prevent infection. She might be a bit sore around there, so be gentle with her. If, over the next few days, the skin redden and starts to swell she might need veterinary attention. In that case you'll have to speak to her 'official' owners. I really hope it's nothing. Sending her lots of healing vibes :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Just had a thought - its possible it's an insect bite (probably flea) that's got infected. Look and feel very carefully for swelling and redness - especially to see if it looks to have a center with redness around it. If that's the case, the salt water is still a good idea, but she will have to see a vet as it may need antibiotics.

Thank you columhine
I will try the salty water
thing so you just need to add salt in to water and
then put it on her skin
By the way if I even tell the owner
they wont care
and I will try to loook for redness around
if their I will try to take her
to the vet

Thank you

Yes, it's just salt in warm water...about a tablespoon of salt to a mug full of water. Proportions aren't precise, it just needs to be salty. Having the water warm makes it easier to dissolve the salt. She may not like it much, so be prepared for that. Most cats hate getting wet anyway, and if there is a cut or infection it will sting...just like if you get salt into a cut yourself.

Hope it heals naturally, but do be prepared for a vet visit. It's good that Meow's got you to look out for her. She's lucky to have you.

What a lucky girl she is to have so many new things :D

Just keep a close eye on the bald spot and keep bathing it :cross: that it heals by itself.

It looks to me like she just lost some fur. If there's no wound to go with it it probably wasn't in a fight.

Warm salt water is a good idea. Try applying it with a cotton ball; she may not even notice that you got her wet. That's another reason to use warm water -- no shock to the cat.

Also, you don't need to spend a lot of money on toys. She'll be happy to chase a ball of crumpled paper, wrestle with the tube from the center of a roll of paper towels, play kitty hockey with a small plastic cap from something that's empty. I have a quad cane (a cane with four little feet on the bottom to give it stability and keep it from falling over when I set it down), and Jasmine thinks that's a cat toy! In other words, cats will play with anything that's available, with or without your approval. If you want to spend money on cat toys you certainly can, and I'm sure she'll appreciate the toys, but she'll appreciate any toy you give her, whether you buy it or improvise it. What she'll appreciate even more is if you play with her. This is a major bonding experience for cats and humans.

Also, please note that I don't mean to criticise you for buying toys for her; I'm just giving information that may protect your spending money for other things that you want.

She's scratching because it's uncomfortable, or even painful. Keep checking for any kind of swelling - you should be able to feel it vevn if it's hard to see. Continue the saltwater bathing. I hope she starts to heal soon.

If she continues to scratch it could be a sign that an infection is brewing. Try to notice if the scratching is just a response to the salt water or if it's happening a lot. It's normal not to like the water, but if she's continually fussing at the bald patch I'd be concerned. Also, if there's no sign of improvement and fur regrowth it could be an abscess. All I'm saying is be vigilant :) Really hope it sorts itself out.

I can't say what caused the bald patch without seeing it in person. It's possible she simply got caught on a fence/bush or similar and the fur got ripped out. Another possibility is she had an altercation with another cat or other animal (unlikely to be a full blown fight, though, in the absence of any other injuries/marks. The third possibility is that she had an old bite from a flea or some other insect and it got infected - the bald patch could be caused by an abscess. If there is no sign of hair regrowth soon (even the the area starting to go black with tiny hairs) then I would be thinking that an abscess is the most likely cause. That's why I keep saying to keep a close eye on it. An untreated abscess left long enough can lead to septicemea (blood poisoning caused by the infected pus getting into the bloodstream). If there's no improvement soon, I really would see a vet.

If you literally mean 2 pieces (ie 2 squares) it should pads ok. If you mean 2 rolls then that's more of a problem. Lots of cats like shredding paper/card - I'm sure little get ingested from time to time when they do that. Just watch out for constipation. You probably won't see her actual bowel movements as she spends time outside. Loss of appetite will be your biggest sign in that case.

Glad to hear the bald spot is healing. In a few days you should be able to stop bathing it :)
