Let's see whether I understand correctly. Your dad came home around 3:00 a.m. and let Meow into your house. But your parents think Meow should go back to her original owners. And you don't believe the neighbors will allow Meow to sleep inside. Are all of these correct?

I think you need to talk to your parents about this. Ask them how they think you can successfully give Meow back to her original owners if she's allowed in your house. Find out exactly what it is that they want you to do, because what I'm hearing is mixed messages.

Let me be very clear. Don't do anything until you know for sure just what your parents are asking you to do. I don't mean that you should defy them, just tell them that you're not sure what they want you to do, and you need to know.

:yeah: I haven't anything to add to such wise words. Just remember that you didn't steal/take Meow. She made a choice.

Yes that is true my dad let her in at 3am but when
meow is standing outside she runs inside so fast
my dad doesnt touch her or hold her so he didnt want to remove her
from the house . Also she wouldnt go out if she hadnt had food and good
amount of sleep!

And yes I dont belive they would let
meow sleep inside there house

My parents made it very clear they think
its a bad idea for meow to come and when she
is in the house they say send her out
but I dont want to force her
i want her to make the most of what she can here
but I want her to atleast visit her owners even once
so she gets used to it

And columbine -hopefully I didnt steal her

Mgilbert32 yes what kind of collar is that?

Can you guys tell me a few ways on how to
Slowly make meow go back to her original home
some small tricks maybe?

Thnx

The problem is, Meow thinks you are her human. As Columbine Columbine has pointed out more than once, you didn't steal Meow, Meow chose you.

There are only three ways I know of for you to give Meow back:

  • The original owners take her back, by letting her into their house and feeding her.
  • You and your family forbid her to come into your house or immediately evict her when she sneaks in.
  • You start being mean to her so that she decides she doesn't like you any more.

The problems are, the original owners won't do the first (which is really the only legitimate method), your family aren't willing to help out with the second, and you are constitutionally incapable of doing the third.

If it's your goal to "give her back," you made a major mistake when you fed her when she showed up in your bedroom at 3 a.m.. The only way for you to do this is to get out of bed, pick Meow up, and put her back outside every time she sneeks in. Never feed her, never let her sleep with you. And it's going to hurt terribly every time you do, but if you're not buying her there's no way around it. I'm sorry.

And no, you can't do it gradually. Trying to would just tell her that sometimes she can get around the prohibition and make her try harder.

unfortunately I can not remember what the name of the collar. I know I purchased it at a dollar store. I also think some of the more reasonably priced collars can cause problems. I would recommend to look up online anything you use for your pet. Usually there are reviews and I wouldn't trust just because it is out there it is safe. Sorry, I couldn't be more help.

Margret has given you the only options you have to send Meow back to her original owners. The only other choice is to get one of the gadgets designed to keep cats off your property and set it up. That is something you'd have to discuss with your parents, and it obviously couldn't be used if you were to go and get another cat.

Your neighbours can't have it all ways. They need to take full ownership of Meow (meaning they look after her in the way that you were), or they need to accept that Meow wants to live with you. It's their choice.

There can be all sorts of reasons for a cough. The most common are hairballs or a cold/uri. With a hairball the cough would be accompanied by vomiting hairball plus fluid. I hope she's ok.

Additionally, except for swallowing the wrong way, cats cough for all the reasons humans do. Was it a single cough, or is she doing it a lot? I wouldn't worry about it if it was just one.

The reason cats and other animals can't swallow the wrong way is that this is the price humans pay for speech, it has to do with the location of our voice box. A fair trade off in general, but very rarely dangerous or even fatal. The Heimlich Maneuver was a great invention.

I dont know how much she actully coughs
since shes barely comes but last night it was
heavily raining and I couldn't stop thinking of meow
the rain was sooo hard I couldn't even sleep
it was sooo loud and my dad usally comes this
time and meow propely saw him and qukckly ran
but im soooo glad she came and she was wet
in the moring which is now she is sleeping

I dont think it is becuase of cold weather
becuase we had warm weather really hot

And she hasnt vomited in front of me
she did once in my garden when I first
started to feed her

It might be a hair ball becuase a lot of
hair falls of when you rub her

Thnx

She may have been sneezing because a raindrop landed in a nostril. It would be fairly easy to mistake a sneeze for a cough.

If it's not chronic I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I'm so sorry hon. You always knew this was a possibility. I hope Meow's owners look after her properly now. If that happens, then you've still done her a great service.

Maybe in time you'll be able to get a cat that's truly your own :cross:

At least her owners are looking after her now. It sucks that you didn't get to say goodbye. :hugs: I hope you're able to have a cat that is truly yours one day :cross:

Well, we always knew this could happen, not that that makes it any easier. Remember that your original goal was to get her properly taken care of, and you have achieved this goal. This is not a small accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself.

I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to say goodbye. But remember, Meow may be gone from your home, but she's still alive, and if her owners have decided to start acting like her real humans (as opposed to mere owners), she'll be happy.

Maybe it's time to take some of that food over for her, and tell them you'd like to say goodbye.

And one day soon, when the hurt has healed a little bit, it may be time for you to ask your parents for a cat of your own.

Your Mum is right; if it was Meow she would have come when you called to her. Meow is not frightened of you.

Think of giving the food to Meow's owners as a peace offering. I doubt they actually hate you, though I can understand why you think they do. Also, it's the best way to get a chance to say "goodbye" to Meow, and if you can establish friendly relations with the neighbors they may let you come and play with Meow occasionally.
