today i actually felt up to scooping the litter boxes, doing the better part of the dishes, bundling up the trash and taking that out, and thawing the next portion of raw cat food.

i think i've gotten to the point where i've 'turned the corner' with the flu -- still sick, but my body seems to have drastically slowed down with it's various bodily effects of white blood cells being released to fight off the flu.
Glad you're starting to feel better. Don't try to do too much. Your body needs rest.

Folded and put awayclothes and towels

Washed dishes

Played on line games

I use sifting liners in the litter box and have only 1 kitty, so I don't scoop the box. Every couple days I lift the liner, let the clean litter sift back into the box, and throw out the used one with the clumps.

Great! But still take it easy. I know it is hard to do when you live alone.. You Have to do everything yourself.

But just slow and easy....you can still relapse if you overdo it.

The good part of being alone is that you do not have to impress anyone and your mess is your own mess...

Glad you're feeling better mickNsnicks2mom!
  • Four loads of laundry today (including a load of kitty blankets and pillowcases).
  • We might take the recycling down today (our recycling center is now open 24/7
    )
  • Rick asked me to make some oatmeal raising cookies; I have the dough made and chilling in the fridge. I just need to bake them.
And I think that will be it. We'd like to visit with Rick's mom a while this afternoon and take some cookies for her. But I have no vacuuming, no dusting, no wiping, nothing like that is on my list today. I refuse to clean today.

you're absolutely right! it's so very easy to overdo it when we're starting to feel better, but we're really not ready to do very much yet.

other than the vacuuming not being done for a week, it's not particularly messy here at the moment. i don't even have a full load of laundry in the washer to run yet. i usually keep a very good supply of firewood stacked on the log rack in the living room as well as a couple tall stacks along one wall there, and it hasn't been overly cold here so i still have plenty of that wood left. bills have been paid, and plenty of food and supplies for us all -- me and the cats. so i'm totally fine with waiting until i'm feeling up to doing more, let alone doing things like moving firewood and/or trimming down firewood.........besides, it's supposed to rain pretty steadily and heavily here starting on tuesday night and continue through friday/friday night -- so those days wouldn't be ones i'd be doing anything outdoors anyways.

Glad you're feeling better mickNsnicks2mom!
thank you!

well, i got a decent amount done today. i finished washing the dishes, scooped the litter boxes, gathered the ingredients for and have a pound of ground beef in the fridge thawing for a batch of slow cooker chili -- which i hope to make tomorrow morning, haven't brushed the cats teeth yet but hope to later, and will need to grab another jar of raw cat food from the freezer to thaw in the fridge later too.

Sorry you were sick, mickNsnicks2mom but glad you've turned the corner!

My three things: making dinner (sauerkraut
N pork)(started slow cooker way too late lol), do laundry, start a new David Baldacci book I bought (gasp!) yesterday. I like that author. He writes his characters to have empathy, and he puts local history in his stories. You can just sense the Harper Lee influence on the man.

Back to work this morning. The cats awakened us way too early today. I even took a nap yesterday, something I don't do very often. But I was so tired and Rick told me to go to bed, that he would finish making supper. I slept for two hours, until Molli and Muffin went at it about something
  • The normal morning routine: breakfast for the cats and clean-up, litter box scooping, 2.5 miles on the treadmill, dosed the girls, shower, etc. This morning's commute wasn't the best. I got a late start and ended up with school buses all over the place, an over-sized load driving in the middle of the highway, and more traffic than what I'm used to. That has a lot to do with why I try to be at work around 7:00 instead of 8:00. At 6:45, the roads aren't nearly as bad as they are at 7:15.
This morning, I was at the end of our street with the school bus coming the other way. The kid got on the bus and then a minute later, he zoomed back off the bus, across the road and back into the house.             All I could hear was "I forgot my.....!" The bus waited a couple minutes (which meant we waited a couple minutes), but the horns started blowing from irate drivers and the bus started down the road again. I           don't know what happened to the kid.
  • I'm walking over to the library during my lunch hour today and then walking over to visit with my MIL for a few minutes. We didn't go in last night because Rick seems to be coming down with a bit of a cold. I'm going to take some cookies to her.
  • Grocery night tonight. Going to be a big list, too, as I'm shopping for Easter dinner as well (except for fresh produce; will get that on Saturday). We already have the ham; I bought it when the grocery store had a nice sale a month or so ago.

thank you!

today i'll give the kitties a late breakfast (they had a good snack at 7am), brush the cats teeth, then get the slow cooker chili going, scoop the litter boxes, deal with the trash, and then wash the dishes.

but first, i'll call my mom -- our weekly chat.

Ate breakfast.

Fed Jasmine.

Fed Jasmine again.

Got ignored by Jasmine the second time.  (Cattitude!)

Grocery shopping.

Need to scan some things and return books to the library.

Will feed Jasmine again this evening.

I guess that's more than three.  Oh, well.

Happy Tuesday!
  • Breakfast for the cats and clean-up, litter box scooping, dosed the girls, made the bed, a bit of general straightening-up in the kitchen, shower, etc.
Nothing much else on my agenda today. Rick has a nasty cold and I think we're going to bed fairly early tonight.

  • The usual shelter stuff: walking dogs, feeding and medicating cats, cleaning litter boxes and rooms, running the dishwasher multiple times.
  • Went to one supermarket to get liquid cat treats needed to medicate some ferals being TNRed.
  • Went to another supermarket to pick up a certain brand of fish cat food to give meds in to a senior cat being treated for ringworm and haemobartonella.

1. vacummed the house  2. changed the oil on my neighbor's car (she's 68 and has a hard time getting out due to mobility problems) 3. mowed my yard and my neighbor's yard (same neighbor), as I live in a duplex building, and it only takes 14 minutes to do.

  • Normal morning stuff: breakfast for the kids and clean-up, clean out the dishwasher, dose the girls, make the bed, scoop the boxes, separate the laundry into piles on the hallway floor for tonight.
  • Walk over to the farmers' market today during lunch for a gallon of apple cider. I need the apple cider to use in brining our Easter ham. I'm walking over to the library first to return a book, then stopping off at the market on my way back to the office.
  • Tonight is trash night, so clean out the litter boxes and the fridge (the fridge looks horrible right now)
  • 3 loads of laundry, but if I really try, I might be able to get it into two loads

Went to Tel Aviv to see my sister.
We went out for lunch.
I had a manicure.
Has strawberries and cream at my sister's.
Came home with one broken back

  • Fed the kids their breakfast, cleaned up, scooped the boxes, made the bed, dosed the girls with Composure, did a quick black light tour of the bedroom and the computer room. Rick took The Beast out for her morning pee, did his PT exercises for his shoulder and got off to work. I shut Muffin in our computer room and gave Mollipop the house today, had a quick shower and I'm sitting in my cube telling myself to get to work. :sigh:
  • Planning Commission right after work. I was able to get out of the one last night, but I have to attend the one tonight, as we are working on a new subdivision ordinance.
  • When I get home, another scooping, another black light tour, and a general quick cleaning about the house. Then I'm off to bed.

I've been thinking both Monday and this morning that if I just had one more hour (maybe two) of sleep, I'd feel better. So hopefully I'll get a fairly early night tonight.
What's the black Light tour?

Good morning, Judy. The black light tour is walking around the bedroom and the computer room with the black light and no other lights on in the rooms. Black lights pick up cat urine, so by shining the light around, I can tell if Muffin is peeing anywhere. She had a bad problem several weeks ago with cystitis and she was peeing all over the bedroom, the computer room, and the bathroom. Between Mollipop's aggression and then bringing Jackie into the house, poor Muffin went over the edge. I took her to the vet who prescribed meds for the cystitis and another med to calm her bladder. She's been doing wonderfully ever since, but I still check the house over with the black light every morning. Muffin and Mollipop are now separated whenever we're not at home; one day Mollipop stays in the bedroom and Muffin gets the run of the house. The next day Muffin stays in the computer room and Molli gets the house. Muffin is eating all of her meals in the computer room with the door closed, so that Molli can't antagonize her and so Jackie doesn't intimidate her. Both Mollipop and Muffin are being dosed with Composure Max to try to calm them down a bit (we don't know that it's doing much, but we're trying). Muffin is doing beautifully now. She is quite the little Diva girl.

I shut Mollipop in our bedroom and gave Muffin the house today, had a quick shower and here I am, sitting at my desk.
  • Must walk over to the grocery store during my lunch break today. I need flour. (When we were in Vermont last fall, I came home with 40 pounds of flour and I'm down to about four cups....I used it all. I didn't think I'd need much flour, but turns out I'm making Hot Cross Buns tonight for Rick's mom. So, off to the store! Thank goodness, I can just walk, so I'll still get a little bit of exercise anyway.
  • Scoop the boxes tonight and make those buns.

today i've got a nice beef stew cooking in the slow cooker, the cats have had their supplements up to this point of the day, litter boxes were scooped, dishes were washed, and some tidying here and there around the house has been done.

also, i just checked over at Deere Financial and confirmed that my new lawn tractor and snow blower attachment have been fully paid off.
since i made sure to pay it off in full within one year, no interest was charged -- they had a 'special offer' when i bought it.

  • Did the breakfast and clean-up thing for the cats, dosed Molli and Muffin, scooped the boxes, all that good stuff. Rick forgot to start the dishwasher last night before he came to bed, so the dishwasher is running now and I'll empty it later.
  • We have an appointment for our taxes this morning. Before that, we're stopping in to see Rick's mom. I have some Hot Cross Buns to give to her; she says she's really looking forward to having a bun with her tea this morning (of course, she hasn't tasted them yet, so she may not like them! Rick says they're really good, though, so we'll see what she thinks).
  • The gate for the hallway came yesterday and Rick is going to install it today. We have the gate at the entrance to the kitchen from the living room and The Beast is not amused. But she's usually right behind me in the kitchen and I've turned around and stepped on paws more than a few times. I've turned around with a Dutch oven of hot water and almost tripped over her and my biggest fear is that she's going to get hurt. When I'm cooking, I don't pay much attention to anything going on around me; I'm usually off in my own little world. A couple weeks ago, I tried to side-step Jackie and stepped on Molli's paw. So Jackie has to stay out of the kitchen for her own safety and for the safety of the cats, too. She's not happy about it, but it is what it is. The reason we're putting a gate in the hallway is so that Jackie can't get to the litterboxes in the bathroom and in the computer room. She still has that fondness for cat poop and I'm tired of constantly having to keep an eye on her. The gates have doors for us and they even have little kitty doors, so the cats can come and go through as they please.
  • I am going to make the pickled red beet eggs tonight for our Easter dinner. I took the ham out of the freezer and threw it into the fridge to thaw.
