They also make a pheromone collar, much like a flea collar, that we used when we had a kitten and tried introducing her to our old kitty Meow. That thing worked wonders! I know with my mom and dad's male cat Butch, he sprays plastic bags and he really liked my backpack when I was in school, but only if I left it by the door. (I learned really quick to take it to my room right away.) We put the feliway (spelled that wrong....) plug in by the front door and he hasn't sprayed anything in that room for over 5 years. They stopped using the plug in 4 years ago. Hopefully having more will calm his spraying urge!

Oh Carolina! Poor Mac....

Poor Mac?  I'm thinking  poor Carolina !
She's the one who has to clean it all up

See, that's why they're so darned cute, because otherwise they'd be out on the street for all they put us through (That's what I tell Stinkpot every single day
)

Carolina, I had missed this entire story but just read everything from the beginning.  Bless you for adopting this handsome gentleman.  I have plenty to say about his previous owners, but I'll leave it at that.

Oh, I know about that collar.... I have used for Bugsy.... and now he is using it too..... see below.

:lol3: I thought the same thing - poor Mac? Ok..... we loooooove them..... but poor Mac :flail: :clap::clap::clap: Love it! Oh Laurie :hugs:

Thanks - he is a wonderful little boy and now he can look forwar to a life full of happiness and joy - he will be spoiled silly for the rest of his days :rub:

Ok, so here is the spray situation.
I took Lauren advice and as much as it is disappointing, no one is going outside for a while. They are going to be inside until Mac is settled for good.
I went out of town for a week and ordered a gallon of Nok out, a new UV light, Feliway for all the rooms (I only had it in my bedroom), a calming collar for Mac, and Rescue Remedy for them all. I believe this is a complete arsenal :lol3:

Got home last night and went on a spray search with the new flash light - :thud: Goodness gracious - Mac had gone on a spray rampage :wife:
He had sprayed my bedroom in different places, my furniture, my boxes, doors, every room was sprayed.
I cleaned it up well and sprayed a layer of Nok out on the top of it.
I also found what it looked like to be pee marks from the kitty that used to live here before us - cleaned that really well too

Put the collar on him, feliway on the walls, and have been giving 4 drops of rescue remedy to all of them on every meal.
In addition, they are all killing their preys before their meals now - meaning: as we defrost the meat we have a nice "kill the Da Bird" session until they are nice and tired, and ready to eat their killing :lol3:

It seems to be working - everyone is calmer, and getting closer together
Today I went on a spray hunt and only found one, instead of many many like yesterday - it is very possible that this is just one that I missed yesterday - it was under my office desk, and I don't remember looking in there last night  :cross:
Anyways.... :cross: Mac will get over this spraying sooner than later, and they will all be able to enjoy their backyard again. I will love to have Mac enjoying that too

I have a very, very good feeling that Mac will soon adjust and feel completely secure and loved in his new life with you, hun. :hugs: :heart3: He has not had that in his life as of yet so his insecurity is expected. Bless your BIG heart, Carolina, for taking him in. Honestly, from what you have told me, I am really impressed with how well he has wiggled and wormed his way into your happy cat family and how he has been so gentle with Bugsy, Hope and Lucky. He will be a good boy and soon forget his spraying ways. :cross: Let him get used to the space indoors completely before you expand that to your beautiful backyard. One little slow step at a time, nice and easy does it. :hugs: :D :vibes:

Yeah - I think he will do just fine

Mike - MrBlanche, and Dottie, his wife, came for a visit today and he was so nice to them! I am so proud of my little one :heart3:
He let them pet him, and talked a storm (I think he was saying treats, do you have treats? :lol3:)

He is becoming the sweetest kitty around :rub:

I don't think I posted this - look how cuuute! :heart3:

I wonder if that is the reason he has been spraying? He's used to his 3 siblings, but then there is that other cat that he can't seem to find.
I don't think so, as the markings were here all along, and he only started spraying after he went outside. I think it was really a case of too much too soon....

Sounds like he is adjusting beautifully --- you are wonderful to have rescued him from his horrible background. I'm sure the spraying problem will be under control soon.

I look forward to your posts and videos.

We are trying to get that spraying under control..... Little by little we are getting thre, it seems - he gets better everyday. Hopefully this will stop soon :cross:
Meanwhile, he is a happy little boy!

Mom, can I help you with your laundry?

Tired and happy Mac!

Unfortunately I am out of town and the videos Minka posted on Facebook have the privacy settings locked to friends - I will shoot more when I get home tomorrow :D
