Hi all,
We took our beloved cat to the vet yesterday for his annual vaccination. Since he is already 2 years old and 6 months he had tested slightly high in creatinine during a routine blood test, I asked for creatinine to be retested. It came up slightly high, at 2.5 (normal range is within...
Hi all! I am expecting my first child in February and as the due date comes closer I want to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible for my cats. They are the centre of our world right now, and somehow this will have to change with a newborn.
What are the preparations I should make...
Hi guys, I recently moved to Singapore with my cats. They're well settled but the youngest (10 month old) is not eating enough wet food. She's fine with dry, but for wet food I have to beg her and she just snubs it most of the times! I tried the usual Fancy Feast but I think the formulation is...
Hi all, in a month we'll be moving overseas and we're getting the cats ready for the long flight. We still have a month to go with their usual vet and I was wondering, at their age, what tests should be mandatory for them? They are 13 and 8 months old, and the vet never suggested they do any...
Hi, my cats currently eat mostly wet food but I do give them some dry during the day when they're on their own or at night. They're currently on Hill's Science Diet for kittens, but my older just turned 1 and it's time to switch to adult food I think. My other cat is 8 months old. I am thinking...
Hi all, in 2 months we will be relocating 8 hours away (by plane). We hired a professional pet travel service for our two cats (currently 1yo and 7 months old), and they'll be sending the crates over shortly, they suggested we start crate training straight away. Do you have any tips for the...
I know this sounds silly, I know. At the end of February we got a small foster kitten, 1 week old. We've hand raise her for a month now, and she got used to us and us to her (our resident cat, not so much :P). Being an orphan she is quite behind with development, she 6 weeks old and doesn't poo...
As per the title... yesterday I noticed something running on my 6 month Felipe, but I shrugged it as probably some insect that was in the carpet. Last night we brought our little 4 week old foster Naboo to the vet and as soon as he picked her - BAM, he saw a flea.
Not sure where they come...
Hi all, I have an abandoned stray who is now 4 weeks an thriving. A bit behind in weight but teeth growing, started playing, just started peeing on her own etc.
I got her when she was about 1 week old, and since done she's been on formula. This week I started offering wet food for kittens. Some...
Hi all, I never came across ringworm before so I am not sure if this is it. Naboo's first visit when she arrived (found abandoned in a bush), the vet said she looked clear. Then another visit (different vet) last week, she didn't mention anything. Now I am getting a bit paranoid as she has her...
Hi everyone, I am in a bit of an emergency here. I am a foster carer but only took care of puppies, and in 2 hours they're bringing me a 2 week old kitten, the lady just can't keep him (they found him) and the kitten hasn't eaten in 1 day, only took some water. I know I will have to feed her...
So, after reading a lot and hearing my vet's opinion, I am thinking to try and switch cat litter. Currently using crystals. They work well but I think it's super bad for the environment. Also, they do have a lot of dust and, even if this not the main important factor, they're quite expensive...
Hi all! Yesterday I noticed that my kitten (5 month old yesterday) left a tiny stain of blood on his blanket. I thought it was coming out from his intimate parts, I inspected "it" but it appeared all good, but just in case, I booked an appt with the vet for this coming Saturday.
However this...
Hi all! Felipe happens to have some dried poop stuck to his bottom (not the hair around it, the actual bottom), this happens maybe every 10 days or so, when his poop is a bit softer. I tried to clean him with some wet toilet paper but he won't stand still (obviously, poor thing), so I am...
So, I am still new to all of this and I am reading TONS of stuff online. I am feeding my 4 month old wet food everyday, with a handle of dry food if I have to leave him alone or at night (but I don't leave dry out all day, just when strictly necessary), and a chicken neck twice a week.
No...
Hi all, Felipe is now 4 months and 1 week old. When we adopted him, his carer told us he was tiny compared to his siblings, and he was also the last one to be adopted (he had an allergic reaction to a flea treatment and he stayed in care a bit longer). Now he is happy and eats a lot (it seems...
Hi there, Felipe is now 18 weeks old and we've had him for two weeks. Friends told me that hairballs are quite usual and we should expect Felipe to throw up a hairball here and there... but it hasn't happened yet! He is a DSH, and I do groom him almost every day with a rubber glove (will get a...
Hi all, as you know our kitten has been with us for three days now. The foster carer said he was on Fancy Feast and said Felipe only likes tuna and chicken, so we bought some of those. The association (which is the same I foster for) also gave us a supermarket brand of the same flavour, chicken...
Hi all! My new kitten has very dry skin on some part of the rear paws. Vet today said it might be fungal or alternative it might just be a bit of dirt + dry skin. He suggested I clean the paws with Betadine and then apply Sorbolene cream.
Anyone got the same suggestion before? Aren't Betadine...
