I've got lots of exercises I can do, it's finding time to do it that's a problem. I'm a stay at home mom with a 3 year old, a 1 year old and I babysit before and after school. By the time my kids are in bed, house is tidied up and dishes are done, I can barely get the energy to shower most days.

I just finished doing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, picking up toys, making lunch, cleaning the floors, wiping tables down, then had to clean parts of the floors again because the kids made messes. Fitness tracker says I did 2800 steps and burnt 201 calories.
I hear you on the busy days. I am a stay at home mom of a soon to be 4 year old and a 2 year old. I don't baby sit and I don't see how you do it. I count cleaning as most of my activity. Some days that is all I seem to do. I have added walking when its warm with both kids. My son goes to preschool half a day so when he gets off the bus we usually walk a mile. LOL imagine saying keep up, slow down, stop and don't the whole time. But I get it in. They love doing it. I use to pull them both in a wagon but now they weigh in at 49 lbs and 35 it is kinda hard to pull.

I did post the same question in MFP forums and have found out a true plateau isn't until you have stalled for at least 3 weeks. It's not even been a week yet. I just got to get it in my head that I wont pull the big 3-5 pound a week numbers forever. It will eventually slow down. I know its discouraging. I have 90 pounds left to lose. Can't blame baby weight forever especially since they are getting older. I have to understand it took me 15 years to get to this size and it won't be gone in a month.

Hmm, quote is looking funny again.

Anyway, I don't know about plateau, I know my weight is not moving down like it should, but when put to perspective it is too early to say anything.

Click image to see it properly, I switched to desktop computer from laptop, so image might be rather large:

I have felt that my weight is not moving now for two weeks, some days it drops, then it bounces back right when I think it is moving. I eat mostly 1450 to 1650 calories, but 28th last month I ate 3000 calories and still had over 1200 calories deficit on that day. Technically I guess one should eat a day before, but I did not know that I'm going to have 3.5 hour extreme workout on that day, that however might be part of the issue for last few days.

Still I need to reload glycogen stores in muscles, so I need to eat.

But I can't see much of plateau even I feel like plateauing, I doubt there really is much of plateau at all, I haven't found any studies supporting that, at least yet. All I can find is 8-10% decrease of metabolism slow down when eating extremely low calorie diets. Is that then because on has no energy to keep activity level up or is body saving energy from some functions.

There is one mean thing in this weight loss, you can get tired because eating low calories, that causes your subconsciousness to make you move slower, less, using chair more and so on, which still feels as like one would do same amount as before when in reality one is not. It takes lot of effort to do even little things sometimes, especially if low on carbs, or some mineral/vitamin.

Any action that requires movement is increasing calorie consumption, so I think it should count, but I think that weekly average or 3 day average is easier target to balance eating and moving. I think it was 1 to 3 days that food goes trough system, so it is not instant, except for quick carbohydrates, which cause body to bypass using fat storage and taking carbs instead from gut and stomach as body favors that sort of energy source, fat is kind of backup storage.

So if you want to burn fat, don't eat or drink carbohydrates 4 hours prior to activity, harder intensity burns muscle energy stores (glycogen) and lower intensity burns fat unless there is carbs recently eaten or drank.

Then you can fool body, take sugar water to your mouth and spit it away like those professionals in Tour de France do, that gives energy and causes body to stop any energy saving.

3 weeks was time that for example liquids get flushed out that have got there because of new exercising routine etc.

I don't know really what my weight is up to, but I just keep deficit and surplus of protein, do lot of activity and exercising as I'm more trying to change body composure, if it takes month or two for change to show up, then it takes that long, I just keep doing what I know should work, if stupid scale does not show progress, then it does not, I'm sure progress will come.

Last month I had 21634 calories deficit and that is roughly 2kg of fat, that is what my weight loss was for last month, more or less, I have found out that it is not very exact, no matter how accurate numbers and measurement you take, changes in hydration are so great that it can mask real change so easily.

I doubt that I can loose more than 2.5kg for this month, at least not fat because that would be pushing my theoretical limit.

Something like 70% of calories burned per day comes from BMR which is why proper diet and knowing for sure how much one eats vs BMR is crucial. 1 hour per day of exercising for me will be only around 18% of total energy burned, rest is from daily activities and I'm not very active compared to many of you, my activity is only about 4 hours per day.

I'm going to spend 2 nights away from my family :woo: I'm catching up with an old friend in the city. We will be eating out so of course I'm worried. I know how to eat out and make good choices. Will I make good choices? I really hope so. Wish me strength.

I seen this today and thought I would share it. It is pretty cool. I am a stickler for weighing and measuring my food. I hope this helps someone.

I weighed in this morning with a 2.8 pound weight loss. I was so scared to get on the scale this morning. I am always afraid that I will gain weight. I am happy I did.

That sounds like our walks. I push my son in a stroller and my daughter walks along beside us but she's constantly falling behind, running ahead, etc. I've got a wagon and once the snow is gone (hopefully this week), I'm going to pull it out of the shed and try to pull them around in that.

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Loss this week: -.6

Loss this month: -.6

Loss this year: -20.6

I didn't gain, but my weight loss has slowed way down from what I was losing. Which is annoying because I'm still eating at a deficit and working out hard 5 days a week. Scientifically, I should be losing around 2 pounds a week. I would be happy with 1 pound a week. But I've been counting calories and weighing all my food, it just gets discouraging. It may just be water weight, so I will calm down until it happens several weeks in a row.

I also added lifting in to my routine this weekend, so I'm hoping to start toning in addition to losing weight. I'll still be doing mainly cardio, but will try to add some lifting in a couple times a week.

I'm also excited it's getting nice out again here in Iowa! It's been in the 60's this weekend, so I went for a couple hour long walks. Can't wait till this is an every day thing.

Still 150 lbs. 40-45 lbs over my goal weight. Losing hope, not weight. Weather getting nice here finally so I'll force myself to walk later. My lemon water [emoji]127819[/emoji]concoction seemed to be helping temporarily but losing effectiveness. I'll get back on track. I'm happy for everyone who is doing well! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You're goal weight is 105? And you're 5' 8"? I'm also 5' 8" and that is drastically under weight. I wasn't even that little in college and I was a size 2. I would set your goal weight higher and that should be less discouraging. Just take it 5 pounds at a time.

It's Tuesday morning. I spent two nights away with a girlfriend. We used to eat together so I was worried. She was on a diet so it was great. We ate yummy meals but chose well and we didn't eat dessert. I weigh exactly the same as last Monday and my waist is exactly the same too. That is brilliant. Im really happy to maintain.

I lost 3.3 pounds in a week (1.5kg), but I think even morning weight shows such it is not real weight loss, just some odd fluctuation.

From yesterday morning over a pound of loss, I doubt that is real, it will come back soon and just hower annoyingly at same weight as before.

Although, my waist was smaller today than it has been any earlier measurement.

My tracker is showing way too high calorie readings, especially when I ride with bike it is really easy to get 2800 calories to show up as daily burned calories, then I eat 1500-1600 calories and weight is not changing a lot.

One interesting thing though, for two days I have not needed to eat veggies (tomato and red bell pepper as I have got enough potassium from potatoes and I have seen huge drop in weight compared to earlier weeks, I really start to believe that veggies are preventing my weight loss, there is clear pattern, weight stops decreasing when I eat them and when I'm not eating them, weight starts decreasing. Only logical explanation would be water weight, but that should go away at some point.

I didn't do so well with eating today but it was one somewhat bad day and I will be good the rest of the week. I had a wrap from mcdonalds for lunch and just ate Domino's pizza. I ate just under 1400 calories for the day and I usually try to keep it around 1200. I didn't go over too badly considering I ate junk.

I am 5'8, 105-110 is quite thin but I feel better and more confident when I'm thinner. I was 118 lbs in 2000 when I met Dale. With relationship issues and my teenage children treating me like crap lately I'm feeling overwhelmed and more insecure than ever.
I went to a dietitian and she said I'm not even medically overweight for my height and medium frame. I think I will strive for 135 pounds. That is much more healthy, realistic and hopefully achievable!
Wow, I wish I wore a size 2! I wear size 8's, lately size 10's if I want to be really comfortable. Even when I weighed 115-118, I wore size 5's in juniors sizes.
I'm the first to admit I get so hung up on numbers. The scale, clothing sizes, waist measurement, hip circumference, etc! I would be happier to not obsess over numbers and just strive to be healthy and energetic.

Hubby has now moved his belt buckle one hole tighter. Last Wednesday night, he came out dressed for church in some cord pants he hasn't been able to wear since two winters ago. I had lost five pounds, and haven't gained it back. But we had to quit walking because of the cold I have had. Hope to start that back today or tomorrow. I am better, but still congested.

Just joining in as I am also on a mission-and everything you state is true. I have always weighed in heavier than most women. I tend to be muscular as well. So I know the numbers don't mean as much but still sticker shock-pants I have to wear mens 38-40. I used to be a 28-30 years ago-the past five years I have maintained at 32ish or womens sz 8ish. This past fall I changed some things and I have been gaining steady weight-I now am at 180 lbs and I am 5'4". I wear a womens 14 pushing into 16.

Two weeks ago I started working out again at lunchtime-only  30 minutes but its a start..I could only jog for a few minutes..I have a bad knee so I have to be careful-I busted the knee last year doing too many squats/lunges. So now its been two weeks-I weighed in Sunday night-not a change. Infact I gained another 2 pounds-and I split a pair of my pants at work-so now I have to work on my diet-thats the hardest thing for me. I am lazy and work everyday, I just need to make a better effort. If I can get this workout to where I start loosing weight I wont feel so discouraged.

also five years ago I was put on a medication and that next year I lost 40 pounds-now I am off this meds and guess what? I wonder if thats why I gained back..so for now-daily excercise and try to keep my posts short to the point.

I definately sleep better the harder I push myself...I was doing good last spring=-I was bench pressing almost 60 pounds and shoulder pulldowns at 85lbs, I want to go back to heavy weights-I lost more weight faster the harder I pushed myself as far as lifting-this past two weeks I did not add more weight=now I think its time to add more...thats all.

I had back surgery in 2013. Failed back surgery, idk if I have any weight restrictions now, 3 years post op but I was told not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk before and right after surgery. One of my friends who has always been heavyset and struggled with weight lost 100 lbs by lifting weights! She hates cardio, she just started doing squats and burpees and lifting weights and lost a lot of weight & gained strength, she's also only 27 or 28 though (I'm 43!) and she is not skinny skinny, just fit and healthy.
I still have not stepped back on the scale since it read 150.2! That's enough of that. I'll start drinking my lemon water again, I didn't lose any weight and idk if it makes sense but I just felt better that week or two drinking lemon water. Maybe there is something to being more alkaline? I'll have to read more about that.

Since you know about lifting weights maybe you can help me. I have a problem most bigger women have. I am losing weight and I have the bingo arms or bat wings. I want to get those tone but have no idea how. I have a 25 pound dumb bell up stairs, my fiance got it and never used it. I want to start toning up as I go I am already down 39 pounds since starting. I still have like 80 to go.

I am 5'5" tall and atm weigh 244. Even though the weight thing said that I should weigh 124 to 148 I look better with a little bit more weight. I have a larger frame for my height so I can handle more weight.

I did really bad yesterday. The only actual food I ate was a bowl of soup for lunch and a small hamburger on one piece of bread with asparagus for dinner. The rest was all snacky foods because I was hungry. I'm trying to have more proteins and less junk but was bad yesterday. I just made some hard boiled eggs to have one for breakfast. I need to eat more filling healthy foods so I don't want to snack.
