I thought a rescue was going to take them? Are they still waiting for the mom to come back? If so,time is up

Mom will look for them, but the chances are she will move them to a new site when she finds them. If it were me I'd bring the kittens indoors now and try to trap the mother using a kitten as bait, once the weather warms up a bit.

What did the rescue say? Can they take the kittens and the mother?

You're going to have to get all of the kittens and the mother fixed eventually, but right now you have a perfect opportunity to keep them safe and get them socialised, ready for rehoming.

I think it would make life much easier in the long run if you acted now.

I do not know how to feed kittens. I'm worried about them choking etc with sryinge feeding and prefer to get mom to feed. But i need to make sure she knows they are there. Im not sure how often she is coming back. Its currently 27 degrees and worried about leaving them outdoors. I put them in our green house hoping mom could still find them.
I have trap set hoping she comes back like she did yesterday at about 9:30am

Is your greenhouse close to the place she left the kittens? Where is the trap, in the greenhouse or somewhere else?

The trap is right next to were she had the kittens. The green house is right behind it. But door is on the side. I dont know if she will even go in. Im just sick that i moved them. But i got freaked out with the wind, sleet yesterday. I hate that she isnt with them much. I know she us hunting. But babies need her too and youd think she would need rest. Im wondering if i should put the carrier back about the same time she was back yesterday

We have 4 acres and mom was in the back area yesterday. Its kind of a mess though and not just open grass. I need to make sure she finds the kittens so they dont die. But not sure how i could do that safely

The lady backed out now saying she has 7 kittens trying to find homes. Not sure why she originally said she would. The other rescue said the 16th. But mom has to be friendly. And i cant even get her close :(

How were the kittens last time you checked on them? Sleeping together in a pile or crawling around looking for Mom?

Do you have anywhere you could care for them until they are weaned? A shed or an outhouse you could put a big crate in? Or a spare room? Is the greenhouse a suitable place for the mother and kittens to live in for a while?

Moving them is not a good idea. Put them back where the mother had them. And set the trap up like Norachan suggested. Do your best to make them warm inside the carrier. Then you have to stay away from them until the mother comes back. I know you are worried about the cold, but they will die without their mom.

because the lady taking in the cat/kittens let her go outside. She was not around when I went to get her monday night. So had to cancel my appointment at the rescue for tuesday. :( So mom comes back tuesday morning. I would have told her to just keep them. but her place is a mess. So the rescue was able to reschedule but cant get them in. Til Nov 27th.
So they are in our bathroom. Mom cat is starting to go crazy wanting to get out.
But we have other cats and hate to have them in a spare bedroom. I dont know what she may have. My dh doesnt seem to understand the issue. He is good about understanding helping until the rescue can take them. but just doesnt think that our cats can get sick from things. What can i do with them? its so cold her to be outside and even our garage still cold and is a mess.

I agree you should keep them away from your cats to be safe. That is a long time to have to keep them in the bathroom, is there any other place that could give you a sooner appointment? I have those square wire shelf things that I build cages with and then take them apart when I don't need it. If you could borrow a kitty condo from a rescue group, you could put it in the garage and put a small heater out there.

Does she have a hiding place or a box you can cover up? That will make her feel safer. She probably will calm down after she realizes you are not going to kill her.

If you mean diarrhea, that can happen sometimes with kittens. What about the mom's? How old are the kittens? If the mom is nursing she needs 3 5.5 oz cans a day.

Yes but its white. So worried about giardia or coccidia. I bring the cats in as i hate them outside. But forget about things that can get my other cats sick. Worried of transfering germs on us etc. :(

Are the kittens still eating? It would be great if you could mix water into some canned food for them a few times a day. Kittens very easily can become dehydrated. If they lose their appetite, then the situation can become very serious quickly.

As long as you wash your hands after handling the kittens and their litter boxes and bowls, your other cats will be okay. Adult cats usually have built up immunity to most infections, especially if they were vaccinated as kittens. Four of my cats were given the FVRCP shot once and have never caught the chronic upper respiratory infections my 18 year old cat gets almost continuously, and they share food and water bowls--there's been research to suggest that those vaccines confer immunity for years, possibly for a life time.

I know it's stressful caring for these cats, and you're a wonderful person for helping them. Once the kittens are weaned, would you be able to get mama cat to a low cost spay clinic to have her spayed? After she recovered, you could release her back outside and care for her as an outdoor kitty. The Humane Society and Animal Friends will often do a whole spay/vaccination package for 10-30 dollars.

Thanks for taking care of these kitties, I hope they settle down and things get less stressful for you!

Mom is nursing. I tried some formula on a plate. On friday. Only 2 would eat. The others didnt even realize it was in front of them. Will food be more enticing?

You will be blessed for taking her in. I agree she needs more room and a box to hide in. Your cats should be fine as long as they are up on their shots. But as you know, a mama cat can be ferocious when protecting kittens and she could attack yoru cats. Cats need long introductions to get along. I agree you need a large wire cage, can the rescue help, you there? Kitten feces can be light colored if they are nursing, call the rescue and see what they recommend. As long as they are acting healthy and alert everything should be OK. How old are they?

Yes food would be more enticing. Put a tiny bit on their lips and see what they do when they lick it off. Feed all, including mama kitten food it is more nutritious.
