Now if I could get him to do that with Mom maybe he'll be around longer. (she's given me a week...) I'll miss her.
Dan - I wouldn't just put them together. Intros should go slowly. Tiger/Logan/Sassy and the resident cat(s) should be separated for a couple of days at least with the new guy in a bath or bedroom with food, water, litter, etc. There are sticky threads on this site about intro'ing new and resident animals. Let me see if I can find them.Originally Posted by dan10101
Update time... It's overdue
Well, we still have him. Surprised?
My BIL is breaking in his 'old' cat to the new home. She seems to be taking the new digs pretty well, but hesitant. She used to spend a lot of time inside the couch frame. The last time I visited she was on the couch and allowed me to pet and seemed comfortable. We're going to give it another few days to get her settled then bring over Sassy for an introduction. I welcome any suggestions on how this would be best.
The old cat is accustomed to be the dominant cat among the others in the house. She won't take harassment from the other cats and will attack if provoked.
Sassy on the other hand has met at least a couple cats, one in particular sat on him or something and sprayed him good. We had to give him a good bath immediately. I don't know what was more traumatic. A few days later he was being chased by a grey cat which I suspect is either his mother or father. It lives a few houses down we think. He used to love to go outside and roam around the backyard, but now will hardly set foot outside.
I suspect that when we bring him over they won't get near each other. Sassy heading for the furthest corner. As I said, I welcome any suggestions on how to handle this. I don't want either cat to be hurt in this exchange. The good part is that my BIL has had this and other cats for over 20 years. (this one is about 13 or so). He's accustomed to their domination struggles. Last thing. This she cat is also a grey and black tabby, so I'm not sure if Sassy will know it is a different cat or if all cats are out to get him. Yes, I'm worried how this will go. But the best part is I will get to see him every couple days.
