It's time to remind everyone of the rules again -

1. Minimum of 15 words per post. Don't bother with counting words. Just make sure your posts are longer than one line and you should be ok.

2. Proper English. Please don't just hit randomly at your keyboard. No gibberish allowed and as with other posts on the site, try to avoid texting abbreviations.

3. Comprehensible posts. Your posts can be drivel, but they still need to make sense. Avoid using automated text generators. It's a babbling thread, but we still expect you to communicate with your fellow members.

4.Original posts only. Please do not copy and paste text from another source. Not even from this site. Not even if you were the author. Just write something fresh for this thread.

5. No consecutive posts. You can't add a reply if yours is the last post in the thread. If anyone starts talking to themselves to speed things up, they risk getting banned from this thread.
I've seen some members not following them. Do you really want me to PM you? ;)

I think we all just get so excited and forget the rules. We'll have to try harder to remember them. Personally, I've found that I am now counting words on all of my posts even ones not made to this thread.

Some days it is so sad to leave the shelter. I have fallen in love with a couple of the kitties and have seriously thought of taking them home with me.

So hard to leave them. It seems the more often I go in, the more I get acquainted with them. I feel bad for them.

Then, when the time comes when one of the cats is adopted, I feel so good! It is knowing that I may have had some small part is helping them on their way to their "forever" home....

I was tempted to foster a one, but I have to put my foot down on that. I am not sure I would be a successful foster. I would be a foster failure.

I can only have 2 cats in my apartment, due to the lease. I do not dare trying for more. Also, I have to think of Artie.

Yes, I do have room enough for another cat, however, Artie has been an only child for over 4 years. He has his run of the apartment. My bedroom is his room. The extra bathroom is his litter room. That has 2 litter boxes: one for pee and one for poops.

The other bedroom is his playroom, kind of 'safe' room. He runs to hide from me in there, behind the furniture. He also has a cat tree set up in front of the window. That is also out brushing station. I have trained him that when I say; "Artie want to get brushed? brushey?", Artie goes running over to the cat tree, and jumps up, waiting for it. That is our sign.

Another cat would disrupt him so much. He absolutely hates closed doors. To isolate a cat in one of "his" rooms, would be too much for him.

There is also the financial consideration. I am on a limited income. Artie is really breaking it - Between his food costs, medicine costs, and Vet appointments, blood work, - it is all too expensive right now. I cannot add another cat into the mix. I would not be able to afford it.

Artie is also a very spoiled, sensitive cat. He is very skittish..I would not want to upset his delicate balance.

Just trying to write down my thoughts..sorry....

Awww I can understand not wanting to upset Artie, especially with his health issues. And while I would love to get one of the seniors I know I can't take him home. I have three crazy youngin's and a curmudgeony old lady at home. Along with two pooches. Out of the six of them, four of them have their checkups due this month or next. And while I used to not do the regular checkups with the cats, I refuse to not do it anymore. So yeah, no new ones for me either, at least not for awhile.

Finally filled out the form on Friday to take out a 401k loan. That should help with a lot of things, I hope.

I recently did the same  Donutte. I just don't know what the future holds=I rather have cold hard cash than to scramble like I have. I will always be working-I dislike being home all the time-I will figure something out if this job doesn't work out. Maybe go into machining since its a dieing trade and they really need people who are good with numbers. Its all pretty plain to me-read the ruler etc and add or subtract and voila=problem solved.

I don't know if had told you guys that the other night Floey ran away from home. It was the night I made potato salad. I spent almost 2 hours cooking/slicing/cleaning and finally sat down to eat. Floey was under the van just laying there. I sat down and ate for 10 minutes. then came back out to check on her-she was gonzo. I figured she followed a bird or a mouse..Jon got off his behind and put his shoes on and walked all over the lawn and woods looking for this kitty. Later on I was gazing at the house across the street-their front door was open and I noticed that someone was standing in the doorway and then looked down and look who was there=Floey=she wanted to come in their house!

That is one very pretty kitty @NewYork1303,  I hope she isn't at the shelter for long and someone gives her a safe and loving home to take over.

It's actually warm here today!

I had to go out and almost melted away.   Think it's about 25C in the shade, way too hot for me.   I am now back home in my nice cool apartment and looking out at clear blue skies.  Usually when it's a bit warmer Mouse doesn't want as many cuddles and finds somewhere to chill out on his own, but he's been sweet today and made lots of demands for head kisses and scritches.

I am amazed we haven't reached 4000 yet, I've not been on line as much as usual because of a series of power cuts and thought there would be a lot more catching up to do here.   Good work everyone in keeping the babble going.

That's not warm, That's winter here

It's 89 F or 32 C here in Florida. Want to trade?? No AC in the UK?? I have heard that it's not nearly as popular there as it is here. it is a necessity in Florida. The last time mine went out (while I was at work of course) I got home and it was like 94 in the house and the cats were panting and miserable. I put ice in their fountain and put a window AC unit in. I put a chair in front of the window AC and Sophie parked her fluffy self on that chair with belly and paws in the air. She was pretty happy after that. Fans in the window did nothing other than push the hot air around. The AC is on in my house about 9 months out of the year.

I have a hankering for swimming in warm waters of the crystal clear waters of Winnipesaukee. Its supposed to be HOT this weekend. I put in for half a day on Saturday=gonna tell Jon to pack his swim trunks and lets get some swimming done! I need to get one of those sticks that holds the phone-so I can swim and take pictures LOL. When the sun is shining it makes the water and sky look so pretty. This year going to hit up a swim store and get a floater raft so we can tie rope to the corner and let the water drift us away from the dock on vacation. Nothing like floating ontop of water. I always loved waterbeds for this reason but so bad for our back.

I couldn't live without my AC either!

I'm off to my job interview soon.  Wish me luck or at least a job.  My trip to Chicago in 2 weeks may take me out of the running for this one but it's a staffing service I'm interviewing with so maybe they will have something else.

@Tallyollyopia I'm still enjoying your story.  and all the paperwork I had to do yesterday was for this interview.  If I'd known there would be so much of it I would have scheduled for later in the week.

I have a phone interview myself this afternoon at 2:30pm. I applied so long ago, and applied for so many since, that I don't remember much about the company or the position. Ugh. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
Good Luck

Just got home from my non-interview.  After getting ready and showing up at the appointment time they looked at my resume and said it wasn't what Tesla was looking for and sent me home.  They did suggest I check their website for account jobs so I did and applied for 4 of them.

It wasn't a total waste.  I learned all my black pumps were/have disintegrated.  so I need new shoes.  learned how to get cat hair off my best suite.

Good luck Donutte! Just do the best you can!

Getting nervous about today's vet appointment.

Looking up how to buy the meds that would help her. I found transdermal Pepcid-I would seriously consider this option.

I also rereading Tanya's crf site-so much helpful links-very thankful for this information. Especially the pharmacology of it.

Floey is very sensitive in her stomach-I am wondering if Miralax gives her gas. The good news is I realized I needed to give her a dose of it yesterday via syringe-she didn't fight it-lets hope when I get home she leaves me some stinkies.

Sorry Handsome Kitty that the job didn't work out. I dread ever getting dressed up. I don't own any dress shoes that are closed toe. They don't make any that fit. I have 2 pairs of sparkly dress shoes that barely fit. I have kidboots that fit and that's what I would have to wear.

Good luck with all the job interviews everyone.  I'm sitting here hoping I won't have to go to any for a good long while but you never know.  I was really lucky to get something a couple of years back when I did....

    Good moves.
I'm not a manager / in the place to interview people any more but I used to and two things I remember very clearly.

1.  A lot of interviewers notice shoes and it is a big first impression hit!

2. Fur covered clothes do not make a good impression even with animal lovers.
I remember interviewing one woman with a couple of friends / colleagues of mine and the first thing we all said after she left the room was it looked like her dog or cat had slept in her coat and she hadn't made any effort to get ready for the interview.   Her coat was covered in fur!  Freyed bottom trousers and worn shoes that are clean and polished are fine, dirty and not bothered to brush clothes are not.

I've spent the rest of my day nicely holed up in my apartment.  I think it got well above 25C but I don't really want to know about it.  Tonight it's supposed to stay around 20C which is not nice, but I should be OK as my apartment is lovely and cool.  One thing I love but others would hate is that my windows all face north east and don't get the sun after the early morning.  That coupled with the building being an old stone one which takes time to build up heat is a great combination and means it would have to be very hot outside before I'd need air-con.  (It doesn't usually get TOO cold in winter either with being an apartment).

Now a bit of swimming outside would go down well,  but I only like to swim in pools so I guess that will have to wait:  no free / low cost outdoor pools anywhere near me.

Is Floey your CKD kitty or is it one of the others? I personally liked injectable Pepcid, which is really nice if you're giving fluids because you can just inject it into the port.

Turns out the position was temporary, not permanent. That wasn't there to begin with, it got added after I applied apparently. But she liked my qualifications enough to say she wanted to keep me as a potential if they change their mind again.

handsome kitty handsome kitty , that sucks! Going all the way somewhere only to have them tell you before you even see the person that you're not what they wanted. Oh well.

New Mexico lost the Tesla Battery Plant. It's one of the few jobs I would bother to apply for in this state.  I have worked for a lot of temp agencies. Usually if you're sent out they give you a try. You may want to tweak your info with them.

I went to the laundry mat today. Our well water is like beating the clothes with rocks. Usually it's decent in there but they use swamp coolers and we have humidity today. Miserable. So glad to be home. Husband went to fetch hamburgers.

Mercy gave me so many snuggles last night.  Mook trolled the foot of the bed and kept making noises until I flipped on the electric blanket I keep near. She is the incarnation of Chilly Willy.

I'm sorry about your interview. (When I was job searching, I kept a small lint roller in my purse so that I could go over myself one last time with the lint roller before going in. I don't know if that helps.)

Painful when you don't find a post is temporary until you've been for an interview.

Good luck to everyone who's job hunting at the moment.  I remember all to well what it's like.

I think I'm going to have to sign off my computer in a minute and give Mouse some attention.  He's been dotting about for ages and trying to come up next to me but I was editing documents and I had to keep putting him down because he was deleting stuff so I had to re enter data.
He needs a bit of a play and some biscuit hunting to make up for things I think:  he's been pretty patient really.

Just ranting. In our yard we have a blueberry bush, and normally I'm the one who picks the berries for the house, but I've been working nights. I came home this morning and saw that the bush is so full of berries that the branches are actually bowed. I had no idea that was possible on a blueberry bush! Anyway I was out there picking berries after hearing from RB that he  works too hard to go picking berries in this heat and AWM is disinclined to. Bad enough--except I just came in and saw they were eating cereal--with blueberries I had just  picked!

This is a picture of the kittens nursing, day one. Look at that! Compared to Rose those babies are huge!

Sorry for ranting; I just needed to vent. I hope everyone's having a good night.

Sorry about the job interviews... That really stinks. I hate job interviews. I think I really do interview badly= red face, from nerves, blotchy rash from anxiety, tongue really thick, dry mouth, not quick on my feet...the works....

Anyway, I just found out on FB that my wonderful Vet has left the practice to be closer to her home!! I am so devised...this week just gets worse and worse. I loved this Vet...

I was talking to one of the front desk staff whom I know from all my visits there. She remembers me and Artie. There is another new Vet there, same temperament as my wonderful one, who she suggested that I see. Artie does not have to go there until December or November for a semi-yearly.. although he sees the specialist in October.

Artie has not been eating all that much today... sigh... His last dose of the Cerenia was on Sunday. Yesterday was a good day for him--2 1/4 cans.. Today not much.. sigh...

I do have the windows and door open because I am sick of the AC. I have actually been cold...perhaps it is too warm for him?? It was 74 degrees in here when I looked at the thermostat.

Still having computer issues. I am thinking I will drop off a note at one of my neighbors for some help. He is a computer whizz. That is not his occupation, but he loves doing it. I hate to do that because he is hard to reach., but a note slipped under his door is the best way to go with him.

I have an appointment with my dermatologist on Thursday. I have this "thing' on my hand that is not going away...i have tried everything. Sometimes it is itchy, sometimes it is not. My gut feeling is that it is ringworm...if it is, I got it from either the gym or the humane society. I have not heard of any cats having it though..so who knows..

Yes, I did try the hydrocortisone, anti-fungals (3)---nothing has helped. I am keeping it covered at all times.

I will be so glad when this entire bad luck episode is over and done with..

Things do go that way ...you get the good times with the bad.. this is just a trying time for me.. so strange that it always happens at once.....

@foxxycat  good luck with Floey and the Vet... fingers crossed and good wishes sent....
