Still just trying to get through the day and night right now. Ba at really opens her mouth quite often, sometimes huff and puffs a few times :/ I really don't know..I'm still hoping her little jerks and spasms are just her developing motor skills. Her umbilical cord either fell out or Bella pulled it out when I was upstairs today. It looks fine though. Bella is still biting occassionally and licking her a lot..I don't know what to do tomorrow though. I have an appointment to go to for about an hour or so and no one is able to watch them. What do I do? Should I put Bella in the crate and baby in the upright box with a heating pad on half (underneath the box or blanket) since its just an hour or so? I'm at such a loss!! It doesn't sound like Bella is trying to harm the kitten. I think they might be better off if given a bit more space. I think separating them would be cruel. Do you feel like the kitten is in serious danger if left alone with mom?

She might not be doing it to be mean. Maybe just to clean the little one. My cats clean one another that way. It looks like they're biting but they're not they nibble then lick one another. . I think she'd be okay. That way kitten can eat. But whatever you feel would be best.

I am nervous..she's pretty aggressive :( sometimes she'll even sit on her and stay there unless I move her. I am waiting and allowing her to do things. But if I get up and leave, so does Bella.

And the kitten must know my scent now because she actually comes to me when Bella is bothering her or has left her for a long time. Like right now Bella really was just cleaning her but it's pretty rough and baby cries out when she's had enough and then she crawls to me..

Is something wrong with Bella? Could she have a sickness of some kind making her do this stuff? In starting to worry about both of them. She's been non stop biting at her/leaving her for the past hour

I'm not sure I don't know enough. If call vet see if they can give you some insight.

I think you should separate them while you go to your appointment. How is the baby's bottom today?

It surely can't hurt to let the vet check them both out.

I also recommend that you buy a Felliway plug-in diffuser and put it in the room with them. It emits calming pheromones and perhaps will help Bella chill out some.

(Sorry I wasn't around last evening. I was visiting a friend.)

Where do I find that plug in?! I've never heard of it! I did separate them today for my appointment and they did great..Bella was a little upset but ever since then she's been taking care of her! I'm not sure if baby has pooped since the one I showed you, Bella Could finally be cleaning it but I'm not sure. Should I try the warm water stream thing to see if it will help her to poop? I just don't want her to get constipated. Just waiting for payday tomorrow then I think I might see about the vet visit. She's gaining weight like crazy though! 207 grams today, she's a chubby little cutie :p I also think she sometimes is Trying to pick her up, she grabbed her by the face today and brought her to a different spot in the room lol I think Bella gets really warm in the box and a little bit hard for her to lay down in at times..so she's probably trying to bring it with her. She still has difficulty at night too if I'm not there..still don't know what to do about that :/

Can you get a bigger box that Bella fits in better to use as a nest? That might help.

The baby sounds fine. The weight gain is excellent. I feel certain that Bella is cleaning her poop. Babies who nurse mom do not get constipated.

Do Bella and the baby sleep in the bedroom with you? If so, that should help mom to stay calm.

The Felliway diffuser is at Pet Smart, or can be ordered on Amazon.

Try not to worry too much!

Yep, their box is at the bottom of my bed..boyfriend has been sleeping on the bed and me on the floor lol I thought it would be best because the rest of the house is cold. I'm definitely trying to back off and just be there when she really needs me but sometimes I do worry. I'm really trying to let it be.

Just wanted to give a bit of an update :) Bella and Baby are doing really well! Bella is doing much better with her and is taking great care of her, doesn't bite anymore but still leaves fot breaks a lot and wants my "comfort/help" close by. Baby definitely knows my scent, she comes right to me when Bella isn't there. I do still separate them when I go out because it still makes me nervous that Bella will do something, even by accident..as she does when I'm around (sits on her competely, gets a bit rough, takes her and leaves her in the cold part of the room, etc). I have a question regarding baby's weight though..she is gaining lots of weight, most days about 20 grams in 24 hours but sometimes only 10 grams. Is there such thing as an overweight kitten? She is currently 9 days old and 271 grams. I know we had discussed her gaining more because she's not having to fight for a nipple as the only kitten but is there such thing as gaining too much weight? Just wanted to check. Other than that things seem to be progressing fine. She does still have that strange spasm/tremor I was talking about before but it doesn't happen all the time..it's weird! He's ears are definitely opening but her eyes aren't open yet :/ aren't they supposed to open between 7 and 10 days? Is there any reasons that her eyes may not open on time?

That's great. I'm so glad to hear they are both doing well.

Nope, there is no such thing as an overweight kitten, at least not at her age. The bigger the better. You don't need to worry about a cat being over weight until they are at least one year old.

7 to 10 days is only a rough guide to when her eyes will open. As long as she doesn't have any discharge from her eyes there is no need to worry. Give them a few more days yet.

Are you leaving her on a heating pad when she is away from Mum? You still need to be careful about her cooling down too quickly if you separate them.

Okay awesome! And no there's no discharge at all she looks great :) I'll post a couple of pics! And yes I have a heatpad in her nest at all times so she doesn't cool off, I'm never gone long and if possible I have someone check in on her. She's usually passed right out the whole time haha I always get Bella to feed her right before I go.

Do kittens eyes look maybe a bit "watery" as they are very slightly starting to open? Just the look there's nothing actually coming out of them. They're just starting to open and they look a bit like maybe they are watery or something Or is that just how they are?
