You only have until noon on your bet today. Any kittens yet? :)

Lol! No. :( only 20 minutes left til I lose. I talked to her about it last night. She pretended like she didn't understand and then this morning, I had a gamblers anonymous hotline card on my pillow. Jk. She did have contractions last night so now I know what the rippling stomach looks like. They were really far apart though and pretty small.

You may want to find her some earplugs so she is in a total panic during the fireworks displays.

Wow. This is a great thread! My kitty is pregnant too! I can still feel the babies moving around so I guess that means she isn't that close to giving birth yet. I am so glad I found this thread! Thanks for all the helpful info. And sorry you lost that bet. Lol

I'm glad this thread was helpful. At least if my cat doesn't have them tomorrow PM, I don't lose any money! My neighbor across the street is a vet tech. I asked her if she would mind taking a look at polka and letting me know what she thinks. She said polka appears to be due. She is lactating and the kittens feel properly positioned for birth. Polka is missing clumps of hair on her back which I thought was just from being feral but she said it looks more like scabs resulting from a type of dermatitis so we'll look into it further down the road. She also pulled one of polkas teeth. It was extremely loose and rotten and was making it difficult for her to eat. It was so loose that when she took hold of it to check it, it popped right out. I thought polka seemed young but my neighbor said looking at her teeth, she's probably 6+ years. Maybe closer to 8, and she's probably been feral for quite a long time. It was really nice of her to come check on polka. We've only ever really talked when I see her at the vet.

Poor Polka is on the old side to be having kittens - poor gal. Thank goodness she has you and this will be her last litter. She deserves to retire from motherhood after this!

So nice of the vet tech to give you information on her health. The skin condition is probably easily treated after she gives birth. And now her tooth doesn't hurt anymore. I think she will have them in the next couple of days anyway.

I know. :( hopefully she has another 10 or 12 years to spend just enjoying life and being babied. Other than new people coming into the house, she REALLY loves being a housecat. I hope it doesn't change after she delivers. Our neighbor said it is probably a food allergy or contact dermatitis. Considering she was feral until very recently, it's probably contact dermatitis. She gets a mix of purina kitten chow and science diet adult cat food which both have low incidence of allergic reactions. Well, I hope she has them soon because everyone in the house is over the moon. I'll probably come home from church tomorrow to a growing family!

There you go! After church sounds purr-fect! :)

Did she have bad fleas when you got her? Flea bites can cause dermatitis.

Her dry food diet sounds good. Do you give her wet food too? Wet food really helps their coats and skin, and she needs it for nursing. A dish a day of kitten formula helps too - and the kittens can drink it when they are weaning. Get the powdered KMR by PetAg. Good nutrition will help her bones, teeth, skin, and coat.

I'll bet she adores being a house cat! :)

Amazingly, we found no fleas on her. I thought she had a lot at first because she was so dirty but there were none! Only thing I found was a tick in her armpit.
We do science diet wet food as well. She loves KMR. we have 2 foster kitties here right now that are almost 5 weeks old. She smells the KMR when I'm mixing it for them and demands her own. It isn't petag though. It's probiolac. It's what we use on all our kittens. I'm off to church. No kittens yet. :-/

Well, if Polka has her kittens today, they will be blessed! If she delivers this afternoon, you lose the bet. Tomorrow all bets are off! For her sake, I hope she has them soon. I take it she is not in any distress since her water broke.

I hope so too. She looks huge and miserable but no distress. She's doing a lot of licking. From what I've read, that could be because she's leaking fluid. :D

Most definitely! This is a more urgent lick though. She will be in midstep and throw herself down and frantically lick for a few seconds and then continue on her way.

Polkas hormones have made her nuttier than squirrel poop. I just caught her in the playpen trying to get our foster kittens to nurse. It wouldn't be that strange except yesterday, the sight of them sent her into a hissing, rumbling rage. I don't want polka nursing them so I had to get polka out but she keeps going back to their pen so polka got closed in my room. Cats are odd.

Poor Polka - she needs to have her kittens so she can nurse her own babies! This is not uncommon for a pregnant cat to want to nurse whatever babies are around.

Is she contracting yet? This is taking awhile.

Nope. No contractions. She's just rolling around. Hard to explain. It's like what a dog does after he gets a bath.
