I stand corrected by catwoman. Your kitten may stay with the uncle, but should not be unsupervised with the six-week-old kittens. Please see her post above mine. Thank you! catwoman707 catwoman707

Thank you @catwoman707 We were wondering this actually if they wont dominate her like that. Well still maybe we could just give her to be fed and they'd keep her in separate room if its not good to her to stay alone with this 6 week olds, because as i said we'll be gone

there's one more thing tho, about the heating pad, when can we remove it? she still needs it now right but when we are both gone shell be 6 weeks and by then she can do most of stuff herself already right? so in one way im thinking whats better, leave her to uncle with 6 weeks olds or leave her to boyfriends dad, but hell have to keep her separate still as there's fold to worry for.

The fold still doesnt like her, even last time she swung her paw and hissed at her, but fortunately she couldnt reach her

and what about this crushed briquiettes+formula and formula feeding. How often can we feed her this briquettes mix? Its not substitute for regular formula she drinks right?

Yes the age of the other kittens will work out. Your uncle can supervise them and maybe your BF can go over there and help introduce them. Have your kitten in a carrier and let the other kittens smell her smell from outside of the carrier. You will want to use the same introduction procedure with the kitten as you would an older cat.

The amount of food needs to stay the same. If the daily amount is 60 ml and she eats about 10 ml on the plate then you want to make sure she gets 50 to 55ml from the bottle. The feeding schedule will stay much the same as every 2 to 3 hours she needs fed and pottied.

@kstonya but they would need supervision and his uncle is at work and his wife and daughter dont have time to look them all time too. My boyfriend can't look them as he'll come to my country and we wont be in his country for 10 days as i said.

I thought if its really not good to leave her there without supervision then its better she stays at home with his dad and the scottish fold, but of course shed be in separate room away from the fold.

Alright I got it. What about the heating pad, when can we remove it? and they have to be fed still every 3-4 hrs until they wean off?

After 3 weeks heating pad is not needed as long as it's not cold.

After 3 weeks she no longer needs to be fed during the night, and should be fed 4-5 times a day.

Yes she is likely better off with bf's dad at home, the fold won't hurt her anyway, just will stay away from her, but she shouldn't be allowed free roaming anyway and should be either in a crate or small bathroom.

alright, tho she can still keep that heating pad for awhile right, i think she likes to be warm =)

when you say she doesnt have to be fed overnight, if we wake her to eliminate shell want to eat and wont sleep, shes meowing and being restless then. So how many hours are we talking here?

Yes, its exactly what we thought about the fold, we'd keep her separate for now. But being on her own, wont that impact her with all these playing skills with other cats you said she should learn?

btw she's got her own facebook page now, so you can follow her progress if you wanna like =) https://www.facebook.com/calicothewarriorprincess

Yes, but it must be of equal age, otherwise she will be pounced on constantly and terrorized, not understanding what's going on.

The idea of not having to wake up to feed is meant for you if you want to sleep all night, this isn't until at least 3 weeks though.

If you wake her to eliminate anyway then you may as well feed while you're up.

Alright what about her gaining weight. Should she still be getting 10g per day?
Today she drank like 4 ml then 2ml abd before she drank 3 times like 15ml and she went from 307g yesterday to 297g today. Is it possible? Will she gain less now?

Is it possible for her to lose weight? Yes.

She must get enough to gain daily, not lose or even stay the same.

She is supposed to gain at least 6 grams a day, hopefully 8-10 a day though.

Hello guys. I arrived home safely and my boyfriend is with the kitten now until he comes to me. So shell need potty training now. Whats best way to do it? Scratch her paws to litter and show her. Maybe drop some poop of hers in there?

Shell be 4 weeks on tuesday. When to do it?

The best way I have potty trained is place the kitten in the litter box after every feeding. Also watch the kitten and when she starts to squat I immediately pick the kitten up by the nap of the neck and quickly place in her in the litter box. Make sure the box is low enough that she can climb in it on her own maybe cut down a cardboard and line it with a plastic liner until she gets big enough to use a regular box.

Thank you @kstonya does this nap of neck grab stimulate what her mom would teach her? And can boyfriend start this yet or not? Shes 3 weeks 5 days today. Tuesday shell be 4 weeks.

Also. Shes so lazy to eat. When we were at vet with her a few days ago he gave her 1st batch of parasites pill to prevent them and i actually looked like this 0.o when he crushed that big pill in 3 pieces, I was like are you sure she cant choke on this? He said no cuz I'm throwing directly in her throat, still I worried. So i asked about solid food and he said we are making her lazy, like she can already start eating food on her own, but she was only 3 weeks and 2 days when we had her there. And we tried but she walked over bowl and didnt even lick till we put in injecyion and she drank that paste of briquettes and formula. Didnt he say it too early? And he said wet food. I thought we should soak briquettes in formula 1st and make paste and later start with wet food? It was that same vet that suggested us tea for these goopy eyes, ugh.

Use your own judgement because you know your own kitten best. Even four weeks is a little young to eat on their own. That's why the mash is best for a couple of weeks during the transition. Kittens are usually good with both eating and using the litter box by about six weeks of age, but all kittens are different, just as human babies do not all use a spoon or potty train at the same time. Vets mean well, but few have first-hand experience with raising orphan kittens. She will miss you, but I am sure your boyfriend will manage her well!

Thank you @sarthur2
I already miss her lots. I wont be back till 17th. And bf is coming over at 9th so that one week we are both gone his uncle with 6 week old kittens will most probably care for her, but keep her away from 6 week olds.

Well id try what kstonya said. It would make sense. If it works like moms approach. Or that one which i mentioned up. Either way, bf said hell manage that, so I'm trusting him eveentually shell learn what she needs to and also when shes ready to eat well see =)

I just hope she wont grow too much when im back, so i can watch her grow and develop her socializing skills =) meanwhile i got my big birman and tuxedo to play at home with hehe

Normally the kitten would be weaned from the mother about 5 to 6 weeks fully. starting about 4 weeks sometimes they can be encouraged to start eating on their own. Each kitten is different. as you did not have the mother you have had to be the mommy. I would seriously wonder why a Vet would give dewormer to a kitten under 6 weeks. @StefanZ and @catwoman707 know more about that end. The vets will normally encourage self feeding as it releaves you of the bottle feeding job. It is not the best to start the kitten before the kitten is ready.

Holding the kitten by the skuff of the neck is exactly how a mommy would carry the kitten. If you place your hand on the back of the kitten's back with your thumb and forefinger at the neck. Gently grabbing the lose skin and grabbing firmly at the back of the neck. When you have the grip right the kitten will hang in your hand. As the kitten get bigger placing your other hand under the butt to support the kitten. If you have watched any cat carry a kitten you will see the mother grab the back of the kittens neck and lift and the carry the kitten with no problem. I did a search for cat carrying kitten and found some videos.

Kittens are not weaned by the mother at 5 to 6 weeks. Kittens begin to supplement mom's milk with soft food through self-feeding, but are still dependent on mom for nursing. Weaning is a long process that begins seriously around 8 weeks and continues for several more weeks while they are with mom.

The carry is a easy way to move the kitten from one spot to another like if you see the kitten starting to potty on the floor you can quickly move the kitten to the litter box. Whenever you are holding the kitten and it is squirming by holding the scuff of the neck the kitten will feel secure as it will think that the mommy has it.
