If you go on taking care of strays and ferals there is an article about the cat blackly stuck under the shed. When I read that I found out that cats get a little disoriented when it snows when they try and come back.

How did they get him out?

These are my two. Blighty the black and white one came from the streets and whisky the same siamese was abandoned. I'd never have got a pedigree otherwise. Too much money and needy cats in shelters.

Oh stew ball they are so cute cuddled up like that. I could only wish my bell and gwen could get along but right now they are not. I have to take bell to the vet to get his nails cut. They are scissor sharp. Being out doors all these years he need the long nails , I am afraid if they fight he could really hurt gwen. He has been staying in at night. We keep bell in the bedroom to sleep and gwen is in the living room. We have to kept the doors closed .

Stewball your little ones ARE so cute cuddled up like that. I hope to see Happy and Pi like that one day soon. Pi is very unhappy with me as he is still in the house and really wants to go out. He goes to the back door and sniffs under it and looks up at the door knob. He is so smart he knows that knob is how to open the door. Then he turns around and meows at me giving me a dirty look as he walks away. I have given him day 2 of his meds and he has eaten half the meal. I am confident he will finish off the rest later. Wendy (my friend) is in my kitchen right now as she wanted to cook today.  As a result he won't come in until she leaves. But he will I'm sure when she does. We are having more snow this weekend but not heavy snow they say. We had some snow showers earlier today but didn't stick to the ground much. The problem will be the cold this weekend. We are supposed to get down to 0 degrees F on Sunday without the windchill factor. So Pi will be inside until Monday or Tuesday I'm guessing. Also, I want him inside while he is taking his meds. They go until Sunday.

I think its funny that Linda and I are talking about all this snow we are getting while you are telling us you are having a sandstorm! Isn't is great that we can communicate with the other side of the world so easily?

It is great. I use my phone so I have WhatsApp and chat properly with America and South Africa.
poor pi. Never mind it's for his own good. He'll appreciate that in the years to come!

Hi guys pipi Judy I want to take my bell to the vet. How much did it cost for his shots and visit. I have to have bell Checked to see if he is carrying anything. When bell came to me he had a clipped ear. So I am thinking that he was checked for feline aids and leukemia. I need to have him checked and also maybe dis temper and rabies shots. Did you get all that for pipi. I don't even know if I came get him in a carrier. But I will try like you. Bell is over 9 pounds Mayb even 11pounds .

Pi went through TNR so has a clipped ear too. They neutered him, gave him a 3 year rabies, a distemper and an application of Advantage II. They also checked for Feline Aids and other cat diseases. That was all free through PetRescue NY. The other day his stool sample test cost $39 and the medication was $54 at my regular vet. If you've had Bella 7 years he'll probably need another rabies and distemper shot.

Good luck getting him in a carrier!

Thanks Judy . I think what I sm going to do is get him a carrier and put
It out and let it sit there for a while in the bedroom next to his food. I want him to get use to the carrier. Maybe put some cat nip in there. I just don't want it to cost me like 300 dollars.

Sounds like a good plan Linda. My next door neighbor has had about 25 cats in her lifetime of 45 years and said she knows how to get Pi into his carrier. So next time we have an appointment at the Vet's she is going to put him in for me. I too am keeping the carrier out in the open so he gets used to it. I put treats in it too. By the way, my Vet is fairly high priced so (if you're lucky) you might get Bell's stool sample checked and worming meds for less than what I quoted you.

With the sub zero temperatures we are expecting today and through this weekend Pi is not going out! Also, I want to keep him inside until he has had all his deworming meds. He has successfully consumed the first 2 doses with 3 more to go. I am also going to try to bathe his eye with a weak boric acid solution today.

With regard to getting cats in a carrier, my sister has been successful using a pillowcase.  She puts the pillowcase over them and scoops them so they slide to the bottom and then puts them in the carrier.  I have not tried this yet but plan to because I had an epic fail last time I tried to get my semi feral in his carrier.  I ended up just having to call the vet and she gave me a shot of antibiotics for him that I administered myself.  That worked fine but sooner or later I will have to get him to the vet and hope the pillow thing works.

Thanks dahlia. I would like to try getting mine in to a carrier first but if that does not work I will try that. I just think he would really freak out if I did it that way. But I might not have a choice.

Is his eye still bad? If it is you need to get it looked at. God forbid he loses the eye.

Getting blighty onto the carrier is a story as well. First I have to catch him. He hates being picked up. Then I have to keep hold of him. For such a big boy he can slip very quickly out of my arms. The day day he was supposed to be neuteredhe hid sand I couldn't find him so it was left whenever I can catch hime to bring him in which is what happened. When he had to go for his inoculations I grabbed him, held him tight, my ex held the carrier up and I stuffed him in. My ex took him crying all the way, it was the first time I heard a meow instead of a squeak. The vet didn't take him right out. Just enough to inject him. When he came home he went to hide
before he went when he was on the floor crying whisky came running to comfort him. Big brother. I hope I won't have to take him before his next inoculations.
You can also try covering him with a towel.

Try like I did with your husband holding the carrier up to the level of your arms. We were stunned how quickly we got him in.

What's TNR?
TNR stands for trap, neuter and release. It's what is done with stray and feral cats in the States. Pi's eye seemed somewhat better today. I don't think he'll lose it Stewball. Will bathe it tomorrow as I couldn't get to it today.

Has pi let you pick him up yet?

I've picked Pi up on 2 occasions out of necessity but got scratched for it by his back leg the first time. The second was the day my cleaning woman frightened him with the vacuum and he ran behind a large vase of dried flowers on the stairs to the second floor. That time I had given him a blanket to cuddle in behind the vase and when he needed moving picked him up through the blanket. It only worked because he was paralyzed with fear of the vacuum. It was a quick carry and put down in a safe place. The next time I tried was last week trying to get him in his pet carrier. Got a 3" scratch for that attempt. So, we haven't reached the point where he is comfortable with me picking him up.

You didn't upset me about his eye problem. I realize you don't know what it looks like. It could just be an irritation caused by some crustiness in the inside corner. I am going to try to losen that today with bathing it. It's so hectic around here with my friend, dog and cat that I'm going a bit loony! My friend went into NYC today to take a nephew to lunch so I have my home to myself for a few hours. She leaves Tuesday morning. She is a wonderful friend and I love her dearly but we are a bit like Oscar Madison and Felix Unger of "The Odd Couple" fame. You know who I'm talking about? Well if you do, I am Felix and she is Oscar for sure! LOL! Get the picture?

Speaking of pictures I just took this one of Pi looking wistfully out at the snow. Poor fellow he has to stay inside for at least a few more days as we are having bitter cold. Boston, MA is supposed to get a blizzard today and tomorrow. They already have 7 feet! Can you imagine! It is supposed to pass to the north of us. Hope they are correct.
