I've been sending , hopes, and prayers your way for Mackerel all along, too. She has the MOST adorable little tabby face. And it is so clear that she is very dear to you. I'm so glad she is getting good care and that you got to visit with her yesterday.

Thanks for the vibes everyone.
It seems a little silly to say it for me because I'm like "super rational scientist brain #4" but I can really feel the energy. The first day I found out that she was really sick I ordered a replacement tag for the one she lost a few days ago, and I almost feel that all of this healing energy is tied up in that, that she feels that people are willing her to get better and she knows that she has her new name tag and collar at home for her to come back to.
It's been really great to have people to talk to about this whole thing and who really care about Mack's progress.

-hugs to you all-

I'm another "super rational scientist brain" person. Then there is my brain on cat. They are separate entities.

I'm continuing to send vibes your way!

Hahaha, I totally know what you mean, MoM. When I brought my uni friends over for the first time last year they were all *really* confused when I brought out Mackerel and introduced my friends to her. As if she were a person. (It's only polite!)

Mackerel turns me into a giggling, cat-speak-talking lolling silly person. And I love it.

I really want her to come home and greet me at the front door again like she used to, and purr really loudly and headbutt me and sit on my lap pudding me whenever she feels cuddly. I really really miss having her at home.

I'm SO glad things are improving - and really glad she was rubbing and headbutting you before you had to leave when you were seeing her.

Keeping the vibes headed her way!!!!

Hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates. Just nothing to really tell you! I had word from the vet yesterday that she's still eating and drinking and seems a little better. She still wasn't grooming though.
The phones aren't open today for me to speak to anyone, but I do know they're doing another blood test tomorrow.

I miss her soooo much.
I'm really starting to feel really... disheartened and down about the whole thing. Trying to keep my hopes up, and keep in mind that any recovery at all is good! But I think I'd kind of thought that it would be faster than this, so... because it's taking such a long time to have any definitive answer I'm automatically thinking it'll be bad.

All I want is to have her back home and healthy and happy and in my arms purring.

I have only just seen this thread and read it through. I do hope the next blood test shows some improvement and she can come home soon. Does this new vet think it is ARF or CRF?

Thanks everyone. :-)

Booktigger - the Vet isn't sure. What's more, he admits he's not sure. I'm full of admiration for the new vet. He says the initial treatment for a cat who has kidney bloodwork as bad as Mackerel's is the same- IV and pro-kidney function drugs and constant monitoring to see how she reacts.

As long as the treatment is the same, it doesn't make much difference really. Do they have her on renal food? it can bring numbers down considerably.

Thank you for checking in with us. Unfortunately for us, sometimes time is the thing that kitties need to recover from whatever the problem is. It's so hard for us to be patient and let the medications and fluids work. Still praying for some positive words from the vet, a full recovery, and that she's soon back with you purring away.
