It's so very hard to be patient! But I hope you find some peace of mind knowing that she's in really good hands.

Continued for both of you!

Thanks everyone.
I'm going to go and see her at the vet tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have some good news to tell.

It sounds as if you've found a good vet; the qualities I look for in a vet are compassion and honesty. I want to know the truth about my fur-kids, whether it's something I really want to hear or not.

I'm adding my hopes that Mackerel is back home with you soon, purring away in your arms.

Mackerel's bloodtest results today show that she's improved a little bit again.

Unfortunately I'm not able to get down to the vet today, and I've just been offered a day of work tomorrow which I really really can't afford to pass up, so it'll be Wednesday before I get to go down and see her again. -sigh-

Yep. She's working today, tomorrow and Wednesday. She's the one that sends me the updates every morning and evening to let me know how Mackerel's getting on.

I'm so glad there's been another sign of improvement! I'm sorry it's taking so long - but her little body is obviously getting what it needs to heal.

I just had a report from my friend that the water retention from last week is still an issue, and the drugs they were giving her to help with it aren't working.
I'm worried but I don't know anything about how that will affect her. Hopefully K will get back to me soon with some idea.

Hey guys, just spoke to my friend K and got some good news and some bad news. Here's the summary:

- Her fluid retention is still a problem.
- Her white blood count is now normal, down from 23 to 9.
- A new x-ray shows that she has some fuild on her lungs.
- Her anaemia is slightly worse. This might be because of the fluid retention.
- Urea levels have come down.
- Creatnine is still high, but has improved slightly from her last few scans.
- Blood sugar is fine. Before it was quite high/low (not sure which. >.<)
- She seems 'brighter' and is eating.
- She's still not grooming herself.

More of the 'wait and see' variety. They're trying her on some different drugs to help alleviate the water retention. I've made an appointment to go and speak to the vet at length tomorrow and see Mackerel.

I'd bet you can't wait to see your baby tomorrow! Glad you are going to have a sit-down with the vet. Don't be afraid to ask any question that pops into your head, no matter how silly you may think it sounds. You have to be fully informed to deal with Mackerel's health issues.
Sending loads of vibes for your little girl

Write all your questions down so you don't forget anything. And write down the answers too, so you have a reference for later.

to you and Mackerel.
