I got some formula today
Did you ever fix the dad? If not, that is sadly the reason for all of his objectionable behavior. Spaying and neutering should always be done before evaluating behavioral issues.I've been debating taking her back to the same clinic and going with to supervise or look for another vet. I was looking at pictures and stories online and cats who had a similar situation had a surgery for the eye to be removed. I don't trust the clinic to do so. If it has to be done it will be done, but if I can't afford the bill o will have to give her away to make sure she gets treatment.
On that note.. Pixie (mom) is doing great! She's back to her old self at last and has figured out what is and isn't appropriate to do with her kittens. She dropped a lot of weight nursing, so I started buying friskies, sharing my lactose free milk in her dry food and feeding her more at meals. She's gaining her weight back slowly but surely (:
Now the dad.. He, just like most of my other cats, were strays I took in and fixed up and have homes. He started harassing my other adult cat and chasing him around, and refused to use the letterbox anymore. So we put him back outside with food and water and turned him back to an outside cat like the other adult cat I had. That night, only one cat came back for food and AC.. The dad, Rex, hasn't been seen for over a month.. Which is why i choose to keep the kitten I did because she looks just like her daddy (:
You are right that the mom getting spayed is not an emergency. I was asking if you'd been able to neuter the dad. Did you? If not, that's the cause of the behavioral issues. She hasn't been spayed yet. We finally got a car a few days ago so it's on my list. There aren't any other males in the house besides her kitten, and the other male is fixed. She also stays inside so I'm not too worried about it at the moment.
I want to talk to my roommate. He said there was one vet that specializes in cats.. Why she didn't see that one the fist time is beyond me. But i would want to go see her and talk with her. If I dont like the way she handles my kitten I will be doing a vet search. Amy she's how much am eye removal surgery costs for a 3 months old kitten..?
I hope you're right. In the future, I would advise against putting an intact male outside. Not only will they be mating with any female they can find, but they will often fight for territory. It can be deadly. The dad hasn't been back. I firmly believe someone took him. He knows where we are and I know he's smart enough to come back. He had him outside for the time being so we could save for him being fixed but he never came back
