@CatQuestionss, I would just love to keep one, two or three, but the plan is to give them up for adoption. It will be so hard. It would be easier if I knew where they were going but that's not possible with the refuge. All that information is confidential, and I can understand why. Unless, of course, I can find someone I know to take any of them, in which case I'd ask the refuge to put a hold on them. I did have some keen adopters, but they've had to back out for various (and genuine) reasons.

Sigh.

@sarthur2  , yes, you are right. They do know whose heart to try to melt!  My mother's heart has melted with this lot (and mine's always mush), but she has that very practical streak in her that makes her realize she couldn't cope with any more scratches or being tripped over. Don't ya just hate that?!

@Norachan, that is very helpful. Many thanks! I can't see why it would be any different at 8 weeks, than 3 to 4 months, but it will be interesting to hear what others say.
I've had several kittens and raised them to adult and the only difference I have had was they stay the same except maybe the more active ones seem to settle down. I had one who was so nosey and was named Curious George aka George aka Georgie.  He was always curious but not as much when he grew up.

Thank you for that info @kntrygrl256  . Again, very helpful. I sure hope these three kitties slow down when they're older!

Is Curious George the very handsome black and white one like Minstrel?

Yes he is
. He always had to know what you were doing. I would love to have Minstrel because he looks so much like George. I hope he finds a forever home with someone who will love him as much as I love George.

@Checkers  It looks as if Ginge has chosen your mom.

It's so cute seeing them together. She seems very relaxed which is a good thing. It means she will help your mom and will eventually calm down the older she gets.

Oh, Ginge's little crossed paws!!! I can't stand it. They seem to know just whose heart they need to melt, don't they?

Love the quilt idea! Solves the problem for now anyway.

Your pictures are so wonderful. It's becoming like a storybook. I do not want this story to end!
I agree with @sarthur2. I have been enjoying the story of these babies since the beginning and will hate to see it end.

Their cuteness is killing me!!! I wish there was a way for you to keep in touch with them even afte4 their adoption... like here, the animal shelter we have keep posting pictures of their success stories even months after their adoption. But we'll all just have to make do with the knowledge that they are all happy and safe.

@kntrygrl256  , I would love you to have Minstrel too. If you were in Australia, I'm sure that would have been settled by now!

I just noticed Luci-Fur and clicked to get a larger photo.  Did you have him from a kitten?  If so, did he look like Ginge? I'm just wondering what Ginge will look like when she's big.

I think that's a wonderful idea, @Lady paw paw.  The refuges here - some more than others - do have little updates on some animals, but only a small percentage. It think it's always instigated by the adopter, except in cases of animal cruelty or some other trauma that brought the animal to the refuge in which case the refuge gets the updates for the media and people love hearing the good-news stories of the transformation.  It would be wonderful for the foster carers to get that feedback after all their  work, commitment and emotional input. It'd be quite an incentive to keep fostering.

Another kitty update

I'm afraid I don't need much encouragement to give you another few photos and a little update.

Last night we had a little episode in the kitchen. As I shut the fridge door it bounced back with a high-pitched yelp. I hadn't seen Ginge had walked between the door and the fridge and I must have really hurt her. She ran and hid under a two-seater lounge and would not be coaxed out so I upended the lounge and grabbed her.  I checked her as much as I could and didn't see anything wrong. She was subdued for quite some time (very unlike Ginge!) as my mother and I took turns in cradling her.  She had a sleep on my mother's lap, and when she woke she was as active as ever, prancing around the place and playing with the other kittens.  Such a relief!

Ginge, taking all the pampering she can get from my mother after her little accident with the fridge door.

Minstrel gets a 'cuddle' from Possum - also on the protective dooner on my mother's lap. Rather crowded on her lap at night.

Unless I imagine it, the other kittens seem to be very gentle when one is hurt. Some gentle bathing of each other was happening last night.
Minstrel kisses it better.

(This was actually taken after their claws were clipped on the weekend. One of Ginge's claws was, I think, cut a bit short and she had a little bit of blood on it. This tender affection from Minstrel may have been a coincidence, but he had the right paw and the tear in Ginge's eye made it all the more believable!)

@Checkers  It's amazing how they know when one is sick or injured. They love they share is amazing. People should really learn from these beautiful creatures.

More absolutely delightful pics and stories! It sounds as though little Miss Ginge got her feelings hurt more than anything! Needed some time to recover her pride.

A day ago I'd accounted for 3 of my 4, and kept hearing a mew. Finally opened a drawer under my TV table & out came Prissy sitting in the drawer! She'd apparently found an opening in the back to get in, but couldn't find her way out!

Yours seem so sweet and empathic. They should make wonderful pets for whomever gets them. The little darlings will surely miss one another once separated. Lap kitties are the best! :)
