I didn't know you were born here. Everybody is really excited about the match tomorrow - Argentina is the "favorite", but Germany does have the "home advantage". Plus, an awful lot of the Italians living in Germany (one of the biggest minority groups) want to see Germany vs. Italy in the semi-finals, so they'll be cheering for the German team tomorrow. Jamie is actually watching some of the matches, but only because it's a good chance to make himself comfortable on top of his "Daddy", who usually doesn't watch much TV.

What are people going to do with all the flags if Germany is knocked out tomorrow? Germans never hissed flags before this World Cup. Stuttgart has flags all over the place, even those of nations that are no longer in the running. I guess they'll stay up until after the games are over.

Well my team is out... it was a good game, though. My props to Germany's goalie.

I'm thrilled that Germany has made it into the semi-finals, but disappointed that it had to be decided in a penalty shoot-out. I felt so sorry for the two "Gauchos" who didn't score.
It was so quiet around here during the match - no cars, no people out mowing lawns, etc.. We had to cancel late afternoon classes so that people could get home in time to watch the match, and I imagine a lot of employers allowed flextime today. Things really exploded afterward, as you can imagine!

Brazil is out! France vs. Brazil, 1 - 0. So the semifinals are: Germany vs. Italy, and France vs. Portugal. Brazil and Argentina were the "favorites", and both were knocked out. What a sensation.
Beckham was injured/limping.
