I dont know about you guys, but I am not really a football (soccer) fan.
But i watched it today, and now im in all the football spirit!

There are so many people here in frankfurt dressed up, everything in restaurants and bars have gone up in prices >_< but its really fun watching all these silly people get drunk

If you are following it which team are you going for???

When Australia plays im going to wear my flag

COME ON ENGLAND

Match starts in 95 minutes (not that i am excited or anything
)

Hubby was wearing a Brazil shirt yesterday when we were out at Little Morton Hall (National Trust) for you guys in the states, the NT buys and is donated old houses, gardens etc which they then 'do up' and open to the general public (that would be us
). The tour guide was taking the micky out of him all through our tour
Me, i was wearing my England shirt ...Come On England.......

I have been looking forward to it for months too, its not very often we get a lot of soccer games on over here (major withdrawal symptoms when I moved here, I had to work out things like baseball instead)
I get the micky taken out of me for my England shirt here though, I met my BF at work (he works in construction) and they are all Italy fans

What's weird is that my husband and I didn't even know that the World Cup was starting until we turned on the news last night. I wish that soccer would take off here. With all the silly things happening in American sports it would be refreshing to have something like the World Cup to look foward to.

Hubby has been watching - but the only stations carrying it here are the Spanish ones. He'll probably be fluent in Spanish by the time this is over.
He's also getting homesick for Germany (he lived there for about 5 years).

I'm "semi-watching" the matches, meaning the TV is on while I'm at the computer. I did watch England vs. Paraguay this afternoon. I didn't have to watch Germany vs. Costa Rica to know who won - people were driving around honking their horns for hours last evening. Who do I root for? The U.S. team doesn't have a chance, realistically, and Jürgen Klinsmann, the German trainer, is a "local boy", and also has a German-American marriage like ours.
It's pretty insane here - fans without tickets are coming by the bus-, train- and planeload, just to watch the games in outdoor viewing areas - talk about mega "block parties". Our area has German police patrolling with French and Swiss colleagues, for fear that the hooligans will cause absolute chaos.
What do you think of "Goaleo", the official mascot? Everybody here is complaining about his lack of shorts!

He's rather cute, dont really mind about the lack of shorts

The USA could do quite well, i think they have a chance against the Czechs on Monday. I am working but should get off in time to see the start. Have faith, who would have thought that Trinidad & Tobago would draw with Sweden ?

Must be pretty noisy in Germany, but i guess the business is welcome even if the locals dont get much sleep
