We had the absolute worst cheese muffins ever. They were so bad we threw them into the trash tonight. I tried a new recipe from my gluten-free cookbook from America's Test Kitchen. They had a fairly good taste, but the texture was horrible. Even Rick, who has been known to really force himself more than once (bless his heart), took one bite......and put the muffin down. "I'm sorry, dear, but it's that bad." And they were just that bad.

I am craving poutine now. I love poutine. I made it once with leftover gravy and turkey from making a turkey the day before.
 It was sooooo good.

I took out ground beef for dinner tonight. I'm not quite sure what I am going to make with it yet.

I only get meat-based gravies when I go out for poutine. :( I LOVE turkey gravy though - my mom makes the best gravies.

I really like Smoke's Poutinerie, but I feel like death afterwards because the tastiest ones are like a full on meat grease-punch in the gut.

That looks amazing. My aunt used to own a fish and chip place, so for the maybe 6 years when I worked there, I would make my own poutine for myself and poutine-ify everything else I ate (fish, shrimp, scallops.. it all needs cheese and gravy!). There's nothing like being able to make it yourself and have some portion control - or more accurately, a lack thereof.

I'm having beef stew from the freezer. I had some for lunch and it was pretty good. It's so good to have home cooked meals in the freezer. I need to do more of it. A bigger freezer would be handy too.

Not sure. I have a hair appt today right after work and Rick said he is planting flowers while I'm gone. It will probably be delivery pizza of some kind. (I wouldn't mind having some beef stew, though.)

Chicken in a sauce. Meat in flakey pastry. Mashed potatoes. Coleslaw and a lettuce salad.

You all certainly love your gravy. How do you make it?
When you cook meat, especially in the oven, save the juices/sauces and a little bit of the fat you can skim off the sauce. Put it in a pot, and add a bit of flour or corn starch to thicken it up. It's a bit greasy and not so healthy, but man is it delicious! It's infused with delicious meaty tastes and the spices you used to make whatever meat it was you cooked. Of course, you can add more seasonings to the gravy itself if you find it needs more. Some restaurants make gross gravy - my mom's is awesome.

You can also buy it in powdered form and just add it to boiling water, lol. It comes in cans here too.
