As for what's local -- seafood, lotsa seafood.
A lot of you have these delicious things like blue crabs... but I've got you all beat!
Rochester, New York is WELL known for something called a garbage plate. There's a seedy restaurant here called Nick Tahoes that makes 'em. There's some variation available, but the best way is 2 burgers (no buns) atop homefries and cold mac salad. Burgers are topped with cheese if you want and onions, and hot sauce. And it MUST be eaten all at once, not separately. Just take a forkful of burger, mac, fries....mmmmmmmmmm!

Speaking of hots, we also have Zwiegles red and white hots, Red Osier roast beef and prime rib, Tom Wahls homemade rootbear floats.... I love this town!

We don't really have anything too weird around here - unless you count Vegemite, and I've never met anyone NOT from Australia who likes that.
Except Jennifer (Sharky) - she actually didn't mind it as a seasoner (I sent her a jar with her SS package last year...).
It's super salty - pretty much just a spreadable yeast - but I LOVE it!
And people like various combinations of things with vegemite - I like it with lettuce, but I've never met anyone outside my family game to try that. Max likes it with cheese, and the lady I work with likes it with mayonnaise, which makes me want to barf, personally
Another popular favourite here is Chicko rolls, but I've never had one, I never will have one, and I don't intend to try one, ever!

As for the pizza—tried Minsky's? It's pretty darn tasty.

Ah yes! Pasties! My mother's family was from the UP, so we ate them all the time growing up, eh?
I remember all of Spartan Stadium singing the Faygo song during football games (after a number of drinks that I am pretty sure were NOT Faygo!)
Around here it's Poutine (french fries with cheese curd and gravey) also Bevertails (deep fried dough diped in cinnimon and sugar)

There is a link to the recipe for lancashire hotpot in my last post Laureen,It has lamb, turnip,oyster,beef stock and other things(don't know what)and it is served in a ceramic pot with a pastry lid on it.
I personally havent tasted it but i guess its not much different to potato hash.
