Another thread got me thinking about this. What popular/strange foods do people eat in your area?
In NH real maple syrup was the only way to go. Seafood was a big deal as well, New England Clam chowder mmmm. Also fresh-picked apples off the tree. Rhubarb made into pies & jellies, or fresh dipped in sugar.
In NC they have vinegar bbq (always had tomato base till I moved here, its growing on me as I am a huge bbq fan), Hushpupies (yum), sweet tea (ewww), grits (ewww), other southern fried type foods, fresh peaches.
When I lived in Montana I tried my first cactus, it was good! Though I see cactus leaves in the stores here...I haven't actually bought one yet..
