Me either! We went in May. It was warm enough to walk the beach (some kids were swimming) and enjoy the outdoors but not jammed full of tourists! I have that problem with the beaches closer to where I live. The day we did the Wright Brother's memorial it was in the 80s I think. The rest of the days it was really comfortable! We didn't make it to Duck Doughnuts; I'd heard of them. I wanted to; but I resisted. Right now I'm wondering why!
The day we drove down to the Outer Banks, we walked on the beach, saw a lighthouse (I'll have to look back to see which one), had a doughnut at Duck Doughnuts (almost worth the 2 hour drive just to get them) and then walked around the Wright Brothers memorial.
Never been there at tourist season. I have a neighbor who goes there every year- her family has a house. Not really motivated to fight tourists.
