The day we drove down to the Outer Banks, we walked on the beach, saw a lighthouse (I'll have to look back to see which one), had a doughnut at Duck Doughnuts (almost worth the 2 hour drive just to get them
) and then walked around the Wright Brothers memorial.

Never been there at tourist season.  I have a neighbor who goes there every year- her family has a house.  Not really motivated to fight tourists.

Cheryl
Me either!  We went in May.  It was warm enough to walk the beach (some kids were swimming) and enjoy the outdoors but not jammed full of tourists!  I have that problem with the beaches closer to where I live.  The day we did the Wright Brother's memorial it was in the 80s I think.  The rest of the days it was really comfortable!  We didn't make it to Duck Doughnuts; I'd heard of them.  I wanted to; but I resisted.  Right now I'm wondering why!

I dearly love blue hydrangeas....yours is beautiful. Do you feed yours? We had two of them, but one died and the other is not doing well, despite trying to feed the thing. Hardly any blooms anymore. We also have two PeeGee hydrangeas; one of those is also doing poorly, but the other one still gets huge blooms.

I know what that flower is, but I can't remember! I think we might have had some of those in the back garden. It reminds me of something, but......I just don't remember.
Thank you!
I use Osmocote to fertilize them and it's been working pretty well. A year ago I put in too much and the fertilizer burn was terrible- most of them died, so it took a long time to replant.

The type was on the tip of my tongue also- I can't seem to find a pic that matches the type of flower. I'm very proud of it though, no matter how it got in my garden

Thanks!  Yea, The wind was really blowing when I was trying to take that picture of the bees on the sunflower. I had to wait between breezes to get it, & it was still moving.

I was surprised the bees stayed there!

I have more pictures of butterflies in my garden.  When I would go down to check the mail, If & when I saw any, I would quickly go up & grab my camera!

It probably was, but honestly, I don't remember. I'll have to go back into our pictures and see. Cape Henry looks familiar to me....I'll have to show it to Rick. I think I have a picture of Rick standing in front of this one. Thanks for posting this!

I love lighthouses.

Kelly, your garden pictures are just breath-taking! You could frame those! I love the one of Angel and the flower. He's so pretty.

Let me know if my pictures are too big- I just went with the default setting when I posted them.
Cheryl
They look just fine! :)

What beautiful new additions we have to this thread. Just think, the warmer weather isn't too far away. :)

This was taken in our garden several summers ago, when our daughter was about 12. I was trying to get a picture of the artichoke (the bloom is almost neon and my camera doesn't do it justice) when she snuck up and photobombed the picture with a peace sign.

Here's Dave, one of my garden's Eastern Bearded Dragons taken the other day.. he's found both a hot rock and a good insect catching vantage point.  When he sees me he waves (truly).

And taken the same day, the beautiful Eastern Rosellas - not such a good shot as I had to take it through the window so I didn't spook them.

They are a couple and they spent quite a bit of time at the bird bath (it's my olympic sized one - I have four)

What gorgeous pictures!

Contaro looks very contented in that picture. Thanks for the smile....you made my morning. Love your picture on the beach....all those golden tones.

SW, that's a great picture of your daughter. She looks like a little scamp. Are artichokes difficult to grow?

InkCat, where in PA are you? I live in central PA. That's a nice picture of your clan.

BBDoll22, I love your rainbow. Looks like your little one does, too!

Dave is awesome! How does he wave to you? Your picture of the birdbath with its birds is beautiful.

What sweet pictures you have all posted, except for mani mani . What is that thing is the first picture? We definitely don't have them around here. :lol3: Keep in mind I run screaming when I see a snake. :lol3: Do you have any other pics of Dave? I'm quite curious.
