How are you feeling Jenny?
This must be so stressful for you....I can hardly imagine how difficult this is.

Do the new doctors have a diagnosis yet?

Maisie was happy to see you.
That is hopeful.
More vibes are on the way.

This is hopeful news. I'm glad Maisie responded so well to your visit. It must be a relief to you to know that she is receiving good care and feeling some better. The waiting for a diagnosis and treatment plan is still the pits, but perhaps marginally easier knowing this.
to you, and lots of vibes for Maisie. Glad to hear Tartine is also OK.

I spent two hours with Maisie this morning - she is much the same as yesterday, though they said she was eating overnight. The vet said that they are trying to balance her blood levels, as her triglycerine is double what it should be. They may give her a transfusion. He said that she is not out of danger, but that she is eating a bit is a good sign. He said that tomorrow I can bring her some carrot! She has become quite a favourite at the clinic, as she is so small - she is in the company of huge thoroughbreds, racehorses and hunters, and she would fit under their bellies! This is racing country and that is why there is a specialist horse clinic nearby, which I am so thankful for. Tartine remains OK, enjoying the company of the horses and donkey over the fence.

They are taking good care of little Maisie.

My fingers are crossed that she returns to full health.

They can take blood from horses like they do people! And the transfusion would be basically plasma with stuff added. But I am very happy to say that they have not needed to, and if Maisie continues to improve, she can come home tomorrow! They said that basically now she just needs nursing care and to be kept eating, anything at all, but eating. It is just the same as with a cat with hepatic lipidosis, give them their favourites but get them to eat. This morning she munched up a bag of carrots and ate some hay and some grains while I was there, so things are really looking up. She is off the drip now and just getting medicine by mouth. She welcomed me with a big whinny and a head butt, and stood happily while I brushed her. She still has loads of mud clinging to her from where she was rolling in it, it is a question of cleaning a little at a time. I must keep her inside when she comes home, so I have prepared a box for her in the old cow barn, where she will be warm and dry and she will be able to see Tartine in the field. Tartine was funny this morning as I was cleaning the field - she cantered rings around me, then pretended to charge me, swerving at the last moment each time. She misses having someone to play with.

I'm so pleased to hear that Maisie is coming on leaps and bounds!
She sounds a lot happier in herself too, which is a great sign!
