I was thinking about this thread earlier, Lois sent me a Calender and when I turned it this morning there on May's page are the cutest ginger kittens

Actually, the site does start gearing up in August and September, as some of the distances involved are incredible, and people need time to shop.

It did give me a start when I saw this thread pop up again.

I spent 4 hours reading this thread last night. I couldn't stop until I knew Felineorc received her package. I was so excited and nervous the whole time. I wanna join this year!! How they heck do you stay in budget?!

I cannot face having to trawl through all of the posts lol. Can someone just let know for info purposes, who allocates the SS pairings and whats the budget?

If I recall correctly, the budget was about $15US.

Some members are quite crafty so you get an item worth more.
Some start collecting bits and pieces all year round.
Some know the manufacturer and get a discount (like me).

Chocolate is VERY popular. (Too few Aussies because almost all of us want TimTams.
)

You can also volunteer to take someone overseas.

It's a lot of fun!

Oh! We also have Secret Santa helpers/snoopers who get info a giver needs without revealing who the giver is.

Usually a couple of mods do the pairings.

I don't think anyone stays in the budget..its hard to once you start shopping. I think it is in all our nature to spoil the furkids

I probably bought some of the same Christmas kitty toys that you did, and tend to buy cute little things when I see them at a good price all year round.

I think the price was $15 US, and it is all about bargain shopping. I do admit to going over slightly
, but not as much as it looked like I did.
