I got some kittens....again and got lucky with most of them getting sick with kitten limping syndrome. All of the sick ones went through the 3-day window, got antibiotics and painkillers, TLC and perked up.
Except one. He's miserable and I took him to the vet today. She said his tummy hurts and aside from the virus she suspected maybe a parasite or giardia. Kittens were all properly dewormed and deflead. This kitten was a bit sluggish when he first got here but he was also young.
Advise is giardia test but I wanted to get some ideas from you guys. 15320128440368897706819696147034.jpg

My cat ha giardia once and the diarrhea was insane - it was like a hose and you could hear him from across the house ( sorry for the grossness). Is your kitten like that? It cleared up really easily and quickly after medication. They just gave him pills straight away and didn’t wait for test results which worked.

No he's not like that, thank goodness. Freddy does poop with loads of noise at the moment. Anywho, the little white kitten's doodoo just smells disgusting. I gave him some finidiar and he seems a bit better after that.

Got 3 new arrivals as well and one is doing horrible. Got her yesterday, covered in fleas and potbellied with worms. Debugged her and later this morning she passed this massive tapeworm:shocked:. This kitten weighed in at 513 grams and now she weighs 466..... I am disgusted and furious. :argh:
How can someone let this happen? Kitten is rougly 7-8 weeks by the way, but extremely tiny. She still has diarrea and she's puking. I gave her some painkiller after discussing with my vet and she still purrs and gets to her feet. I told her to keep going...sooo:vibes:some of that maybe?

The other 2 I got today and their poop looks fine, but again the fleas...

We're gonna clear up the shed tomorrow and see if we can make some proper housing for the little ones. I can't have them mingling with my cats even though they need soooo much TLC...

Sometimes I really hate summer holidays and people who don't get their cat fixed...:frustrated:

Bless you for taking care of these little ones. My Bassie weighed in at 2 lbs when she came to me. Vet estimated her age at 8 months. Plus some creep had kicked her and gave her a diaphragmatic hernia :fuming:
And she had lice. No fleas, though :disturbed:

Oh my gosh, poor thing!

The littlest kitten is meowing again and hanging on the bars, so I think the painkiller is doing it's thing. She gorged down some A/D and I gave the others some kitty milk and debugger

Little white kitten is not really eating but I'll give him some convalescence and hope he wants that.

His meow is adorable.

The 3 little rescue kittens are luv. Still very potbellied, either from all the food they're getting or some left over from the worm Infestation. Poor things

I am thinking of moving one of the tiniest kittens indoors for better socialisation. The fleas that fall off are near to none now. However, I have one quarantine cage in the living room and Mitch is still in there during feedings.
This little kitten could carry something that could set Mitch back or Mitch's 'illness' could affect her. She is so vulnerable, they all are.

A little look into my space. Any ideas?

Do you have a room in the house where you can quarantine the sick kittens?

They will need a second round of de-wormer, and sounds like the kitten with possible giardia needs meds/antibiotics.

Whoever is not eating needs mLs of clear pedialyte syringed several times a day.

It sure sounds like you are doing a fabulous job with these poor kitties!

The three new ones are quarantined in the shed attached to the house. I have these rabbit cages 15323269147872789591651067113756.jpg
Ideal for little kittens.

Not one of the kittens has a fever, after my visit on Thursday with Mitch he's been getting better. He needs to get some weight back but he has been eating.
My main concern now is if I bring the kittens from the shed(actually barn is more accurate, it's quite big) to the main room of the house will they get sick from what the other kittens had or will the other kittens get sick from them.
Kittens need love as well and they need to get accustomed to everyday business.

I need to seriously make some catification improvements to my house. I want to have the big cats be able to go up. The floor is crawling with kittens, it's crazy:banana1:

Rushed to the emergency vet last night (it's 6 am CET here) with mitch. Found him in the litter tray looking miserable after puking in said tray. He had a drunk man's gait and later threw up again.
The vet said his sugar was low, so he gave him SC fluids, glucose and something for the nausea. I had to treat him with antibiotics I still have at home and make sure his sugar would go up.
Mitch was really bad and I was almost too scared to come downstairs but he's alive.
The vet did make some comment about the density of cats here which may have contributed to Mitch getting sick so I also feel so guilty right now. That it may be my fault because I took him in.
I just hope Mitch pulls through...:vibes:

He's ok:sickcat:. Not complete fit kitten but he was rough-housing around his litter tray and play attacked my hand. I made sure he didn't go to long without either milk or wet food and he has a bowl filled with dry kibble. Diarrea is also back but that could be from the antibiotics. I'm keeping him in his cage a few days, may let him out in the enclosed kittenhome we installed.
Oh last night was horrible, he meowed so pitifull and then he got the needles stuck and he was wailing...the vet even asked at one point: are you still with us? In response Mitch got out of my hands, wobbled on the desk, swishing his tail. :hearthrob:
He did purr all the time though, that little engine kept going:hugs:

It does sound like he is better. I hope the diarrhea is from the antibiotics.

Highly likely. He didn't have diarrea anymore and was happy go lucky. Still off but a lot happier. His bowel is irritated by the way. The vet checked it out yesterday and Mitch was very clear that his tummy hurt.

But the comment the vet made is still nagging in the back of my mind. All my cats are so healthy, how come these kittens get sick? Stress from moving, a bug in one of them? Maybe it is my house and the cats..dunno

If your cats are healthy, the kittens are getting sick from whatever they were exposed to before you got them.

Where did the kittens come from?

1. malnourished
2. found along the side of the road
3. looked well cared for, bit young perhaps
4. handicapped foot, small for her age
5. infested wiwi fleas(white kitten, but he was grey from the fleas) I sat in the tub with this one, picking fleas of him with a tweezer
6. Mitch, I think his owners looked after him but he was very sluggish when he got here
7, 8 and 9 were found in my village last week, severely neglected, full with worms and fleas, so they have been in quarantine

4 got sick the first with what I think is kitten limping syndrome, they all seemed to get it, Mitch got it too but then he remained sickly with what seems a form of enteritis.

Very diverse backgrounds as you can tell

Aaaand we hit the jackpot!:argh:

Giardia.......:cringe:

Arwen had yellow diarrhea and Venya had diarrhea too. Seeing as Mitch also had soft stool, I did a snap test of three samples....
We're also experiencing a drought with lovely warm weather....:censored:
