Oh my gosh he’d have hated my parents back when I lived at home. There were 7 of us living there and often at least 5 cars because my mother drove a company vehicle for work. There were usually 5 cars in the driveway without having company. Fortunately if you park right you can fit 7. They have nice, wide streets though and I don’t think there are rules against street parking unless it snows. But still; teenagers have friends and friends who spend the night.

The number of cars coming and going is much less now; but my stepdad bought a go-kart. He doesn’t get it out even weekly; and then for maybe 15 minutes tops. So hes conscientious of the neighbors; but it is loud. He really needs a place in the country.

Our old house had a vacant strip of land next to it that wasn’t quite big enough for another house. It was long and narrow. The guy across the street’s grandson lived with them and had a dirt bike. He rode back and forth ALL the time!! Fortunately they were really nice people who cut the grass and looked out for me when DH would have to go away. And plowed the neighborhood. But that dirt bike was so annoying!

Nowadays, it seems few people can spell the word "drawer/drawers". They spell it as "draw/draws". Another is "suppose to" instead of "supposed to". And Youtubers who say, "And yeah,..." over and over, as in "And yeah. I'm suppose to paint this chest of draws pink."

I'm such a petty person.

When, like, people, like, need to keep, like saying like.
I've even heard podcasts where I've had to switch off as it was absolutely chronic.

Also, and this is more something I just don't get, why is the phrase "I couldn't care less" said as "I could care less" in America? To me the meaning of the phrase is that it's not possible to care any less, so "I could care less" doesn't really cut it. :headscratch:

Oh my goodness, absolutely yes! I live in the big city of LA and it’s just totally normal when that happens. It’s actually kind of uncommon for somebody to thank me when I’m holding open the door. Of course, it still bugs me, though.
When they don't say thank you, I just loudly say, "You're welcome!".

I was comming out of a casino in Niagara Falls, Canada one day. I held the door for the people behind me. The man said "you must be an American, most people here don't hold the door for people".

Also, the people with French accents would not move to let you go buy when they passed you on a sidewalk. I felt like if I did not move for them they would have ran me over.

I also noticed that everybody there was dressed real nice. Except for most of the Americans who were dressed like slobs.

I hope I did not offend anyone.
