Thank you for updating us; please keep us posted. You must be exhausted from all of this and Lili is so lucky that you adopted her.
Oh thank GodI was waiting prayerfully & glad to hear she is stable PLUS the Y-U sounded like the best long term resolution, giving her the most and closest to a normal opening.....Whew, heard back from the surgeon a few hours ago. LiLi made it through and is stable, but the surgery was very rocky and they were glad to have an anesthesiologist to keep her stable because if the surgeon had been doing it herself she may not have made it. Apparently her blood pressure was all over the place and caused them more than a few panics.
Really makes me wonder if the shelter neglected to tell me how she was during the spay and honestly if I knew we might risk losing her during the surgery I probably would have made other choices, but I digress.
There wasn't any foreign blockage, but the pylorus was narrowed most likely causing the issues. They did the Y-U pyloroplasty. Feeding tube is in so she comes home tomorrow as long as she continues to improve over night.
Thank you! Honestly I’ve just been trying to keep busy and not think too much about everything so thankfully it’s mostly physical exhaustion rather than mental.Thank you for updating us; please keep us posted. You must be exhausted from all of this and Lili is so lucky that you adopted her.
Thank you! I think they said the first 5 days are the critical period then 2 weeks until she’s back to being mostly normal.I am so happy she came through the surgery, and the specialists were there to help the surgeon see her through.
Do they have a time frame for complete recovery?
As strange as it's going to sound, I am glad they did the feeding tube just on the slim chance her appetite isn't the greatest for a few days, and this is one less thing you'll have to stress and worry about as she recovers. Sending her gentle pets and hugs. I hope she can come home tomorrow.
Thank you . Same, it also means they thought the opening was extremely small which reassures me that was a large part of her problem.Oh thank GodI was waiting prayerfully & glad to hear she is stable PLUS the Y-U sounded like the best long term resolution, giving her the most and closest to a normal opening.....
Try to get some rest tonight, you're going into work this morning? Praying fervently for baby LiLi,precious little girl
GenCat I am so sorry to hear this Do they have any shot in the dark guesses as to what is going on? Maybe she's nauseous etc.?Short update because I don’t want to start the waterworks again while stuck at work. She took a turn for the worst and they can’t figure out why, it’s not her incisions or the surgery but she’s just not doing well. Surgeon offered to let me see her but I can’t drive all the way out there tonight especially with me needing my job to pay the bill either way.
They are befuddled, the surgeon told me all five specialists are in there wracking their brains as to what is causing it but basically “shock” due to the surgery is the only general thing they can come up with but she said that even seems strange due to the fact that she did so well immediately after then suddenly started becoming lethargic this evening.GenCat I am so sorry to hear this Do they have any shot in the dark guesses as to what is going on? Maybe she's nauseous etc.?
Just try to remember, she's in the best place possible. She will receive monitoring from caring experts.
Try to hang in there. Hopefully they'll know more soon and she'll begin to improve and be able to come home soon.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. The surgeon and her team were so so sweet to us. At some point that evening they had all five of their specialists working with her and trying to figure out what else they could do. At some point in the future I want to make a more in depth follow up on my thoughts and feelings, as well as what things I might consider doing differently just in case someone in the future finds this thread but I’ll be giving my heart plenty of time to heal before considering it.
I’ll be moving to crossing the rainbow to elaborate on the non-medical side of things.
Again, thank you all so much for just…being with us from the beginning to the end.
