Refesh my memory: where did you acquire Tiger? Was she part of a litter of strays? Outdoor cats are going to encounter insects all the time. I bet your chickens occasionally eat them.
I don't like insects much myself, especially in my home, but we need them. Just for starters, birds eat them, and bats, so the world would be a poorer place without them.
At least you combed them out and got rid of them.
Also, I've been remiss in offering my congratulations on your new family member. She's adorable!
