Just got home and I am much much relieved to have seen Toe. I cloced mileage and it's 35 miles and 45-50 minutes drive time. Not too bad. I stayed with Toe for nearly an hr and a half. He was so glad to see me. He meowed when I said his name as I walked in the room and instantly got up. I left him in the cage but opened it and it got as close to me as he could. I just stroked him and petted him. He kept flipping over and over working his kitty hands. I rubbed his belly which he likes.
After we petted for 45 minutes or so, I fed him his food. It ate it out of my hand. A half bowl full. I could tell he had nosed around in the bowl and ate a little but not much. So I rolled it in balls and he ate all of it out of my hand. He drank for me too. This food is supposed to dissolve the crystals. I am going back tomorrow and feed him again. They told me he has been drinking.
After he ate, he was so tired and full. He lay down with his coned head in my hand and went to sleep. When I left he was alseep.
He is a different cat. He will make a fine recovery pending his bladder and kidneys. They are going to take the cath out in a couple days...
What a relief.......

ps.. I am thinking of feeding all the neutered males I have [which is 7] science diet CD which helps control the formation of crystals and stones. This is nearly a 100 percent male cat problem. It seems their urethra is longer and narrower than the females. Female cats hardly ever get this. So I am thinking preventing this is a good thing since it can be controlled by diet. I can feed the males in the enclosure and the females in the house.. The only males I would have to put in the enclosre to eat is Toe, Yellow and Hank and JJ. The others eat out there already. They are all easy to handle and they would get used to it ...... The price is not too bad. They have 20 lb bags for 39.00 at the vet. Does anyone have any idea how long a 20 lb bag would last for 7 tom cats? I go through approx 40-45 lbs now for 24 cats per two weeks. But that is Purina Complete and I know cats eat less of the Science Diet because it satisfies them more and they poop less.
Also........they told me that Toe eating dog food at times might have helped cause this. I am changing to set feeding times and taking the food up afterwards. Toe loves Pedigree dog food. His dog days are over...
