  • Am working on laundry now, so I can get it done while it's still colder outside this morning
  • Once it warms up, we'll be working outside
  • I'd like to wash the cars this afternoon, but will see how that goes

Wow. That was fast. How sad. Did they just drop it off cage and all and leave?

Worse. They stuffed him in a small plastic crate with a piece of cardboard taped over the top and left him outside the front door of the shelter, where I found him when I came in. There were almost-full bags of rabbit food and hay beside the crate.

Like a milk crate? That is awful. the poor little guy.
Thankfully he's safe now. I hope he gets adopted by someone who will love him for the rest of his life.

That infuriates me beyond measure.

When in the world will people get it through their heads that animals aren't disposable gifts!!!!!!!
Me too.

Unfortunately, there is little to no chance of repercussion and people who do this know it.

It was one of those folding crates for the trunk of your car - about the size of a box for boots.
My daughter (age 15) wants a rabbit but I know from experience with our cats that she wouldn't take care of it and it would be left to me and I don't want one, so needless to say, she will not be getting one.

...with the cats...
i woke up feeling tired today, but still managed to get some things done --
  • gave snick and jasper their breakfasts, then relaxed for a while at the computer
  • dumped the wood stove ash pan, then added another small piece of wood to the wood stove
  • i had a bowl of cereal with sliced banana and milk after i gave the cats their breakfast, so i just made a couple fried eggs and had a glass of juice to finish off my breakfast in the late morning
  • got the slow cooker going making sweet'n'sour pork
  • scooped the litter boxes
  • got a big batch of rice cooking on the stove, then washed the dishes nearby
  • got the rice split up into 3 containers. two containers will be frozen, for use in recipes coming up soon. the third container will stay in the fridge, to go with the sweet'n'sour pork
  • gave both cats a snack, then nibbled on little bits of this and that to tide me over until the sweet'n'sour pork is finished cooking (around 8:30pm)

I'm leaving at 2:00 today and taking some vacation hours:
  • Work in the basement. I need to get all of our old electronics ready to go to the recycling center tomorrow morning. We have quite a few items again and we need to get rid of them, so we're doing an extra recycling run
  • Must scoop the boxes tonight because I ran out of time this morning and couldn't get them all done
  • Have some work on the computer to do tonight
We also have to run some errands for Rick's parents tonight

today was a very unusual day for me -- woke up feeling very tired and not quite well. up at 6:30 am and gave the cats their breakfast and had a bowl of cereal. stayed up until about 10:30 am, then knew i needed to lie back down for more sleep. i got back up at noon -- snick and i had snuggled together under the covers for a very nice nap together. then i made us all a nice lunch. i scooped the litter boxes and bundled up the trash. no washing of dishes or anything else today, just not pushing myself today.

i'm feeling better now.

i've done a little reading and chatted with a friend on the phone for a while. i'll probably watch a little tv shortly.

tomorrow i have planned a busy day, so i'm okay with keeping things quiet today.

oh, and i'll run the washing machine later this evening.

One grandson came at about 11am.
Son and two granddaughters came about an hour later.
After they left about another hour,
I made mac andb cheese
