We now have 2 kittens! 1st is grey and white, 86 grams. 2nd is quite dark, 108 grams also a breech. Will be more detailed when things are further along, haha. Think Skye is having a break between deliveries? These ones both came out quite quickly and I'm pretty sure she's not done but she's mostly interested in washing them for now.
What sort of timeframe should we expect as a break? The second kitten was born an hour ago and no sign yet of the next one. I can still feel wiggling inside Skye. I reckon there's at least another two in there. Also, the second kitten can't seem to find the nipple, even though it's right in front of it's face. Instead he/she keeps trying to steal the one the grey is latched onto...
Regarding a break, it can be as long as a day. Sophie had 3 in an hr or two and #4 came the next afternoon. As long as she is not straining or distressed its fine.
Ok, she's just laying back and chilling and both kittens now have a seat at the bar. maybe we can sneak away and have some food too, haha. She went into labour while we were in the middle of cooking dinner.
That darks ones marking look amazing. Was not expecting a kitten looking like that, haha. And the grey and white is so cute! I'm so proud of Skye, she's doing such a good job! Glad she decided to move into her den for the actual pushing, as touching as it was when she clambored into my lap after her water broke.
The 4th kitten is a good weight, moving around and mewing, but it's also occasionally making a little wet noise from it's mouth. Should I be concerned?
Husband has been with it for the last 5 minutes and says it's not made the noise again and has managed to latch on to a nipple. I'll keep a close watch on it though. We think there might be one more to come. So far we have:
1 - Grey and white patches - 86 g
2 - Dark with golden ticked fur and stripey tabby marking on the face - 108g
Thank you. I just called the emergency vet and they said the same thing. I'll just keep an eye on it and see how's doing in the morning. If it gets worse we'll take him in.
We're at five and I'm fairly certain I can feel another down by her nipples. Will a queen still feel a bit lumpy even after all kittens are born? She looks very peaceful right now.
