FYI... Diamond was recalled too I would be worried to buy anything that made at the same plant as Diamond but that's my opinion.
Where did you find it? Was it petworld? (I'm assuming there is only one store and I'm going to be talking about the same place) I just switched to Felidae and did not think it was very expensive. The store did not have chicken and rice so I got Cat and kitten, they only had the ten pound bags when I went though. I had e-mailed them and they had said that the 5 pound bags were $8.99. I think it is a great food and the cats love it. I have only had them on it for a short time though so No big results yet but the poop does not smell as bad IMO.I found a locater for felidae near my house! Phew thank goodness! Is it quite expensive
Sadly, at this point, Trixie, I don't think anyone can answer you with a solid "yes".Originally Posted by trixie23

Hmmm I'm not real familiar with Triumph. I think I've looked at it at Petco and passed it up. Looking at the ingredients of a few flavors at Petco's website, I'm not impressed. The ones I looked at start off with "meat by products" which is something I avoid. In theory, by products could be OK, however when it comes to reading that on a cat food label, we don't even know what they are...it might as well say "mystery meat". By products can be feet, heads, intestines, etc...you just don't know. I prefer to see named meat items, actually that's a rule with me...such as "Chicken, Chicken Liver, Chicken Broth...." etc. I even hesitate on ones that say "poultry liver" or "fish broth" etc...because they can't tell me WHICH poultry or WHICH fish. I want to know what it is,....I think it says a lot about the quality of the food when everything is specifically named.Originally Posted by carrie640
My vet recommended giving Ashley food that has the first three ingrediants (at least the first three) being meats (and water is ok, too, for canned). He suggested Wellness, but I didn't want to head out of my way last night (it was getting late) to the store that carries it (and Petco doesn't). However, I did go for TRIUMPH. It said in nice, OBVIOUS lettering, that it is MADE IN CANADA.
I am guessing that means it is ok, thus far?? And there is no wheat gluten in it....WOOHOO!!!
You can add Felidae to your list of food not made by Menu. I think I will get some Merrick for my cats and dogs to rotate with Felidae and Canidae. Unfortunately Felidae only had one kind of food for cats but has different stuff for dogs. I don't know any store's around here that has Merrick but they do allow orders online and right now it has free shipping. I may just try that stuff. Anyone likes this stuff? Do cats and dogs like it?Originally Posted by beandip
To avoid MENU entirely, I'd have to limit that to Merrick's and NB, and that's not going to happen. I'm happy to report that everyone is doing fine.
I've been biting my tongue as I don't wish to add to any panic and I do personally believe Felidae is safe, BUT where did you get the info about Felidae? When I read the statement on the front page of www.Felidae.com, I only see the typical vague "not affected" statement. I haven't seen anything verifiable that states they don't use Menu. To me "not affected" simply translates to "made by menu but not recalled". And "nor are any of our products produced in any of the recalled production facilities" just translates to "made in one of the OTHER menu facilities". I would think if it was not made by menu, they would proudly state that, like Natural Balance does (at www.naturalbalanceinc.com). Even still, I'm feeding it because it does not contain wheat gluten, and I feel safe with that.Originally Posted by Gizzie

I've only tried the chicken and rice Felidae once...from memory I think those chunks could have been rice?? I'm not sure. My cats prefer the other one that has several meats in it...the "cat and kitten" formula...or the "platinum". The "platinum" is low calorie and that bugs me but sometimes that's all I can find locally. The multi meat type is mushier, more like ground meat. It wouldn't be good for an allergy cat...but I don't have any worries in that department, thankfully.Originally Posted by trixie23
I just bought some felidae for my kitten last night... The chicken rice formula! She loved it last night but wanted nothing to do with it this morning? Which will end up being a bummer if she decides she isnt into it anymore since I bought her a case! I must say i dont like that felidae has hard chunks of whatever it may be... the kitten doesnt know what to do with these huge clearish chunks? What are they?
Yes, but did anyone tell you point blank that their food is not produced by Menu?Originally Posted by Gizzie

CANIDAE® Pet Foods in no way is affected by the recall, nor are any of our products produced in any of the recalled production facilities.
CANIDAE Pet Foods also does not produce cuts and gravies, pouches, and does not contain corn, wheat or soybeans in any of our products or formulations, and all ingredients are of US origin.
Our heartfelt concerns go out to all those affected by the recall.

Now that's a confident straightforward statment.NO Natural Balance® products are associated with

Please take a deep breath and reread my other posts.Originally Posted by Gizzie
I am not going to argue with you it's apparent you are trying to scare people even more than they already are. I have SPOKEN to them over the phone and they DO NOT produce their food at Menu. Plus the food does NOT contain any wheat, soybean, corn or by product and they don't buy stuff outside of US. If you believe they produce their food at Menu please provide some proof and don't scare people for no reason. Everyone with pets already paranoid and can't sleep at night you don't have to add to it.
And I also said,I've been biting my tongue as I don't wish to add to any panic and I do personally believe Felidae is safe
So I keep repeating that I serve menu produced food...I am not trying to scare anyone. I was actually trying to calm people down. I happened to mention in passing that I didn't think Felidae was non-menu...and you pointed it out.Personally, I feel safe living by these three words: Avoid Wheat Gluten. So with that in mind, we're still rotating between our usual brands of canned food ...Innova/California Natural/EVO, Eagle Pack, Wellness, Felidae, Nature's Variety canned and raw, Merrick's, Nutro MAX/NC, and Natural Balance. All of the food my cats eat is free of WHEAT GLUTEN.
Yes, so true. And I'm sorry for participating in the hijack of your Wellness thread. I almost forgot what the question was. LOLOriginally Posted by trixie23
