I lost a dear friend a few years. I did re-establish contact and he seemed willing to be back in touch, but we weren't able to get back to where we were. He is still in my heart but we don't talk any more. he hasn't returned my last few calls. it's too long to go into the whole story here (plus it's pretty boring) but I don't regret trying to re-connect with him.
you have to be true to your heart, and when your heart aches over 'unfinished' business, or just the loss of that friend in general, I think you owe it to yourself to see if you can bridge the waters. I wasn't able to make a lasting connection but I don't regret it one bit. Now I will never have any regrets for letting it slip away because I know that I tried. and at the end of the day isn't that all that matters?
