That's a good amount for 6 oz. As he grows he will need more food. 8ml for each ounce he weighs during a 24 hour period. When are you going to the vet?
I'm getting really scared. I took him to the vet and they took his temperature at 104. They immediately ran and got him some medicine and gave him an oral dose it's called Albon liquid. It is an antibiotic I am supposed to give him a dose once a day for the next 6 days.
I never felt like he was that hot. But just now I took him out to feed him and he felt hot to the touch. Is it the antibiotic that is maybe making him warm? Is this the beginning of the end. I'm just so nervous for him.
Oh my goodness and I am so glad I took him!! They didn't check his stool, they said it didn't matter what he had that Albon will treat whatever infection it is. They said his paws will heal on their own. I just checked on him and I think his temp is already going down.
They are correct in saying it will treat whatever infection he has. You should see his stool change to brown over time now. Obviously his paws were burned by the hot street.
So now you have him on good formula and an antibiotic. He should get healthy fast. You have saved him. Poor little guy would not have stood a chance otherwise.
I am feeding him every hour now just to make sure he is hydrated. His mouth gets pretty dry if I dont. He is eating well and he finally pooped again. It's still yellow and it smells soooooooooooo bad! But I'm glad he went
If he's constipated add a couple of drops of olive or vegetable oil to his bottles to soften things up. You can also offer him bottles of pedialyte in between his milk bottles. The extra liquid will help.
But he doesn't have to poop after every feeding. He may not need to go every time.
Okay, sounds good. I have been putting about five drops of vegetable oil in his bottle but it doesn't seem to help. Also, is it okay to reheat his formula in the microwave if he doesn't finish it? I have been putting it back in the fridge and reheating for his feedings.
Try rubbing his tummy. You can also hold his bum under warm running water in the sink while tapping his rear with your fore finger. This sometimes helps. If he's still constipated tomorrow you can buy baby glycerin suppositories, shave off a tiny piece, and insert it.
I'm trying to keep him as hydrated as I can but his little nose isn't shiny like it was and his mouth isn't as wet. I'm giving him bottles of pedialyte every now and then, but he still hasnt pooped which is concerning. I think I'm going to go out and buy a suppository. Is there anything more I can do for him?
Kitty still hadn't gone to the bathroom today and I could tell he was in really bad pain because he would push and just scream. I noticed his tummy was getting rigid so I ran to the store and bought a suppository only to realize I bought the liquid glycerin kind. Luckily I had a tiny syringe so I put a little in the syringe and up it went.
He still pushed hard and screamed and then a 4 inch putty like poop came out and his tummy softened. He is happily asleep now
He still screams when I stimulate him to go poop. I feel so bad for him. How man times a day can I give him a suppository? I think his antibiotic is constipation him
