I'm pretty sure they're only like the bigger avatars on here.Originally Posted by calico2222
Ok, I've been to some forums where avatars take up 1/2 the screen and to be honest it really annoys me. My computer is pretty wimpy and can't handle that. Is that what you're talking about? I mean, I love seeing all the kitties, but I really don't want to wait 15 minutes for my computer to load each page. (basically I'm asking will there still be a size limit?)
I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager, it works fast and is very easy. Each time I upload a photo to my computer, I go directly to Microsoft and resize my photo before posting it on any forum.Originally Posted by Rosiemac
Photobucket which most members use resizes pictures. There's a sticky at the top of Fur pics that explains what size we require, then you just set your size on Photobucket and they all come out the same size
I agree 100%!! I may disappear from time to time, but many people here I consider my extended family (does that make me pathetic?) I don't care what kind of format we have as long as we still have TCS.Originally Posted by Feralvr

Annnnndddddd that's why we have you guys! ha! to think about stuff like this....... which duh! My brain just didn't quite get thereOriginally Posted by jcat
That may work for other forums (e.g., for e-cigarettes), but many people join TCS in an emergency situation, for instance because of a major health problem when no emergency vet care is available or when a cat has escaped from their home, and it wouldn't be in their cats' interest to force the new members to make a number of meaningless posts before they are able to get help here.
Current usernames, passwords, and all the posts you ever made will be ready for you on the new platform.Originally Posted by 3CatsN1Dog
Anne, I have a question. With the new format does that mean we will all be required to reregister or will all of our current stuff like screen names, passwords etc be going over to the new format? Also kinda stupid but what about points and the whole gifts thing? Im ok if its not there but its kinda fun.
Thanks Anne. I just wanted to know that when we do eventually make the change if reregistering was something we would need to do. Only because knowing me...Id forget. Thanks for answering my question!Originally Posted by Anne

Points and gifts will no longer be supported, I'm afraid
As for the cooking threads - definitely something to consider, but let's make the move first and then see.

As for the cooking threads, well, I agree about having a separate place for recipes because those are things we don't want to lose....recipes are important and it would be great to be able to find a certain recipe without a lot of hassle.
But as for regular cooking threads such as those that I post from time to time (the home made vanilla thread, the Forward spice thread, for example), no need to have those separately; they're fine in the Lounge. For those who don't like them, don't read them....it's a simple as that. What's next? A separate tv section so that people who don't watch tv don't have to deal with posts? A separate sports section for people who don't like sports? A separate section for games? It can go on and on.
Let's just move and get all the bugs worked out! It's exciting! (and kinda scary, too)
I still think all cooking posts should be separate. We have to go elsewhere to post our cat pics and to tech talk for answers so I really do think cooking posts should be posted on it's own. That way all you who cook can talk together and not take up space on the CAT LOUNGE unless of course you are talking about CAT FOOD. Only my humble opinion. I never open cooking posts but they are still taking up space.Originally Posted by Winchester

In order to have a separate forum for something there would have to be enough threads to justify a forum. In the past week there have been 7 question of the day threads, 5 cooking threads, 4 about TV shows and 2 about the weather. Five threads in a week really isn't that many. There were approximately 95 threads started in the past week, so that means 5.2 percent were cooking threads. I knew being a Math major for two years in college would come in handy some day!Originally Posted by LaRussa

Obviously Cat Food would be discussed in the Nutrition Forum, and the Cat Lounge is the designated place for all topics not covered in the other forums."This is the place to relax and get to know each other. You can tell us about yourself, relax and discuss topics that don't fall into other forum categories."
There are quite a few threads in the Cat Lounge that don't interest me. I just don't click on them. Five threads in a week (less than one a day) shouldn't be too hard to avoid.
