Oh, I haven't looked at this thread in awhile--some GREAT new pics!

Today at our house, after a basket of potpourri got knocked on the floor:

Ozzy:  You're in trouble, you've done it now!

Rico:  No way, man, I'm gonna tell them YOU did it!

Is Royale a DSH or a specific breed? She's a really striking cat!

You know what Betsygee? I think that pot pourri jumped.

Love that picture! It's so typically "cat".

But that pot pourri did not make near enough of a mess. Just as soon as you turn your back the plant will be going over. Now, that will make a mess worth of a cat's attention (for at least 2 minutes).

Poor kitties, trying to work out how to clean up  that mess and all that happens is they get accused or making it!   So cute.

You're right--big, unbreakable pieces of dried plants aren't nearly as dramatic as dirt and broken ceramic everywhere--ah well, there's always next time!

Heh, I've given up on having plants at all. If they aren't being chewed, theyr'e being used for litter boxes or toppled off the windowsill so the cats can watch the sparrows from six inches further to the right than the empty spot the humans have deliberately left for that purpose.

*sigh*

yeah, cats and plants don't mix...

And if the plant doesn't make enough of a mess, there is a much larger one partially hidden behind the cat tree.

So true, so true! Betseygee's cats are much better behaved than mine. Anyway, plants are just one more thing that needs to be fed, watered, and cleaned up after.

The big potted plants have wire mesh around their base to keep kitties from using the soil as litter boxes!

I'm with you.  If it were up to me, we probably wouldn't have any indoor plants.  Hubby keeps them up, he loves them.  I used to buy flowers every week to have out on the dining room table but gave that up exactly five years ago (when we got three new kittens in the house!)  I got tired of cleaning up water, broken vases, flowers scattered all over the table.....

You have to love those kitties to welcome them in to your home!
No chance of plants or cut flowers here with my muncher....  he loves anything associated with plants (except fruit and veg) so all I can have reasonably safely are well anchored fake flowers made out of stuff he doesn't like to chew....

Ohhh! I have some to share!

I almost had an heart attack when I saw Zebra up on the blinds rod!

Then Pepper went up there!

Then Spike did it too!

That's not all....

I had a pile of files I was going through and left the room for a few minutes. This is what I found!

http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Pamela4cats/media/SpikePeppermakingamess2sept03.jpg.html

Last of all but not the least- one morning I walked into the kitchen to find this!

http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Pamela4cats/media/2003 aug/spikeonsoilaug03.jpg.html

I had placed plants on my baker rack thinking cats couldn't get to them. Boy, I was wrong. The reason why the crashing/breaking noises didn't wake me up is cuz I'm deaf. Unfortunately this gave the cats (especially Spike) plenty of time to roll in the soil pressing it into the carpet. After I scraped soil off the carpet(1 hr), soil could still be seen. I vacuumed, vacuumed, vacuumed many times. It took me a while to get all the soil out! I was NOT happy. Lol. After that, I banned all plants from my home.

Are they trying to get your attention or just practicing anarchy.? The best pic is the one of Spike regally lying in the dirt  (Taken from 3 angles it looks like) with shining fur.

Oh, that's hilarious! I'm glad I'm not the only one who regularly wakes up to chaos. I've got a Spike too, a little tabby girl. She's fiendishly smart and just ....well.... fiendish is the only way to describe her.

Oh boy, you really have your hands full!

Who'd have guessed dirt baths had such a wonderful super-shine effect for black kitties!
Shame it doesn't do the same for carpets.

My home has been plant and cut flower free for over 3 years now after a similar but less messy incident with an orchid plant.  Paper work has been filed away or pinned down under something large and heavy (though corners and ends do meet a soggy and ragged end at times) for about 25 years....  what is it about important documents, paper money, and library / borrowed books that cats find so irresistible?

Wow--these photos make my kitties' antics look like amateur hour!  Your cats have taken trouble-making to a much higher level!

I am sorry... I did have to laugh.
