Now, mani mani , I'm just the opposite. I'd prefer to see the movie/series first. So many times I've seen a movie and thought it was good, then read the book and enjoyed it SO much more...if I read the book first, aII I can think about is how they sIaughtered the book! I understand the whys and wherefores, but it reaIIy distracts from being abIe to enjoy the movie just for what it is.

Good point. I guess it depends on how bad the series is. I remember watching Game of Thrones after reading the book and thinking how they'd nailed it. So much of what I'd pictured in the book was spot on in the series (the early ones.. I haven't watched the later ones as they seemed to do that thing where things had to become more and more extreme).
I've just been watching Magpie Murders.. one of my favourite books, but am finding it hard to get into.

I wiII say this, if you read CharIain Harris' "Southern Vampire" series (AKA Sookie Stackhouse), be aware that "True BIood" is totaIIy different, VERY vioIent, and with a of stuff that bareIy misses an "X" rating. The onIy reaI simiIarity to the books are the character's names!

I may start "Educated" a day earIy! I shouId finish up the Merry Wrath series by Monday!

I've finished the book I was reading, so I've started The Cuckoo's Calling now. Only a few chapters in, so no opinion at all yet.

Anyone who hasn't posted yet planning to read either of the books? If so, feel free to post and let us know. Since we're in our final book club months, not many chances left to join us.

Another library loan showed up, so I've put Cuckoo's Calling aside while I zoom through Lisa Jewell's new one: None of This Is True.
Still 12 days till discussion, so lots of time to get back to it.

Probably won't get to Educated, but I've read it before. Though if I can get the e-book, I might re-borrow it, and skim through it to refresh my memory.

"None of This Is True" was a really fast read. So I'm back to Cuckoo. Only a few chapters in, but enjoying it.

Almost review / discussion time!

I'm starting to panic a little, as I'm only at the 52% point of Cuckoo's Calling.
I better pick up my reading pace!

Cuckoo's Calling is 70% read now. So I should finish it by review / discussion time. Not looking good for Educated though. :ohwell:
