When I met Rick, he was driving a 1967 white Mustang. Great car and, to this day, he regrets selling it.
A guy my father knew kept asking me to sell him my Mustang and finally made an offer that was far too good to refuse. He didn't get to enjoy it very long - it was hit by a truck in a supermarket parking lot and totalled. I felt very bad for him.

The only vehicle I ever truly hated was a '77 Ford F-250 pickup. That thing was the most misbegotten pile of- well, you know. It would stall for no reason if you hit a bump, and then restart after several tries. The dealership went nuts trying to figure it out. Finally, I had them tow it back after I couldn't get it started one night. It turned out that the magnetic pickup inside the distributor was broken, and when bumped just right, would move enough to throw off the timing, and stall the engine. Bump it again, an the pieces would re-align, and the engine would run again. That was my first new vehicle, and my last Ford.

The car I learned to drive on was a 1948 Hudson. It was 15 years old at the time and Dad kept it until the floorboards rusted out. He repaired that by putting planks of lumber on the floor. I was so embarrassed by that car. Everyone else was driving around in T-Birds and Corvettes, and here I had this clunker.

Dad never did like to buy cars. The car he had before the Hudson was Model A Ford that he bought before WWII, and he kept it also until the floorboards rusted out. I remember lying in the backseat and watching the road go by underneath. I was afraid of falling through the floor, so I lay down on the seat.

Today I have a 2015 Buick Verano, and I love it. It's the first car I've ever had that wasn't a stripped-down model.

My brother says F.O.R.D. means Found On Road Dead! He prefers Chevys.
Both my Dad and Stepdad would disown me if I got a Ford. (Although I have many fond memories of riding around town in my friends Ford Escort in high school.)

Both are Chevy guys through and through. My Step-dad ran his Silverado until it needed more repair than feesible. Hes in a Mazda now; but regrets not getting another Chevy truck. He wanted better gas mielage for his commute. My mother has always gotten a lot of life out of her Mazdas too.

Our neighbors would drive into Buffalo to a bakery where they sold day-old bread for 2 cents a loaf. They would go around taking orders, and usually come back with the back seat filled with bread- and consider you had room enough for 4 guys to play pinochle.
Someone had a big appetite . . . .

My older brother worked for GM for over 30 years- and never drove anything but Fords.

I heard it stood for Fix Or Repair Daily ;).
Yes! I've heard Fix or Repair Daily too. I'm starting to think my brother is right about Chevys being better. His 1971 Chevy Chevelle Malibu still runs. But my dad keeps buying Fords (Taurus) that he has to junk every few years. I think he buys Fords because they are made in the USA.

The worst cars I ever had were the 73 Plymouth Duster and the 83 Dodge Omni. The best cars I ever had were the 91 Camry and the 03 Corolla. After owning Toyota's I would never go back to American cars.
