the dose is incredibly low. I feel like it's worth a shot? only 25 milligram that is almost nothing.

I don't. I just know baking soda will eliminate acid.

It's supposed to replace bicarbonate that is lost. Your cat isn't losing anything. She's retaining everything. I'm afraid the acid she has is from toxins and that the baking soda might make it worse.

I'm going to take a better look now at the link you provided.

I know you feel desperate.

If it were as simple as baking soda your cat would be well now. A $500 drug didn't work. They ran all the tests. The bottom line is that nothing short of dialysis can save her.

I know it's difficult to accept that she is in her final hours, but she is. Try to make sure she isn't suffering.

I know this is incredibly painful. I feel for you.

I know I just have a severe distrust in doctors in general. I myself have been made sicker by them only to cure myself simply with a radical diet. I know this is different, I wasn't dying like this but still. Anyway, thanks. I will just let her be in peace I think that is the best thing probably.

I hear you about doctors. They tend to treat symptoms.

Your cat ingested something that has caused renal failure and they really did all they could.

I kept hoping her kidneys would magically start back up - but they didn't.

What if she needs euthanizing after hours? What's the plan? You don't want her suffering. Is the vet available?

She may become moribund before tomorrow morning.

we are all right there HOPING for some miracle, but I think that's what it would truly have to be at  this point.

I'm honestly shocked that she's still hanging in there going this long and not producing any urine.  Her little body has got to be full of toxins .

I'm so glad you have pre-arranged in-home euthanasia, for when the time comes

So sorry there's been no improvement.  My thoughts are with you and your kitty and still hoping she can somehow overcome this.

@jwark:
Hugs from every inch of my heart. I've been through acidosis with family members and it's agonizing. Please do not let her suffer much. My heart is totally breaking for you right now.

The fluid got into her lungs and I could tell she was suffering too much.

She has gone to a better place. We will miss her so much.

RIP Wonder Lady.

Oh no.. I am so deeply sorry for your loss @jwark

You did everything within your power, stood by her and gave her a lot of love and comfort.

Doubt not, she knew and she went to a better place knowing she was loved. This is so important for every single living creature.

Take the time to mourn her, talk about her and your feelings regarding your loss. We are all here to listen and give you all the support you want.

May she rest in peace..
