Aww jeeez.... I feel so sorry for you- I just found the thread today. Best of luck with the rest of the time wearing the boot. I agree with cat nap that it might help to name the boot. If you havent already, I think you should name it Pandora, because its like a box and you'll never know whats inside it, as in, how the wound is healing, how far its progressed, or silly things like if you're wearing clean/dirty socks or when did you last wash your foot.

Actually, that gives me an idea, quite childish, but still a good way to entertain yourself- a game. Think up the craziest things you can to be inside your boot and tell us in the comments

Anyway, hope that puts a smile on your face and I hope you get better fast

You could call your boot "3PF" for 3 Point 5 - half of a pair of seven-league boots;  William or Will or Billy for William "Bootsy" Collins - from Parliment-Funkadelic.

I can NOT believe I forgot about the coconut cake!
(There really is no added comfort food; I was just being silly, of course.)

And Buford (the Boot) it is! He's black and Velcro and metal and he's a male.
You're all right; we're going to be spending some time together, he and I, so he might as well have a name.

its a great name for a boot
: D
Yes, great name for a boot....lol....Buford the boot....sounds somewhat like a "hound dog"....so no surprise that your cats Muffin and Molli do not like it.

Yet  @BerbDCat@MoochNNoodles and @catspaw66.....we all took our chances with the "naming the boot" idea....since if @Winchester came back and was in more pain.....we could all have ended up at a pool party without being offered any coconut cake
that the other members would be enjoying.

So if you want to read an update on Buford the Boot, you will have to check out the " name the three things" thread post #753.    http://www.thecatsite.com/t/270306/name-three-things-2014/750

I think Buford is more active than I am.....but I am being inspired.   thanks Winchester for the motivation and posts.

How about "Bootford"?

I hope you're feeling better. What a pain, figuratively AND literally!

You can always play astronaut. Just remember: it's 1 small step for man; 1 giant leap for mankind---no, don't do that! You may hurt the other leg!

I've been having pain in my ankle for about a year. At first, it only bothered me while in bed. I think it was due to the position I sleep in because of certain felines who push me to the side of the bed.  Now, it has also has gone to the side of the foot, and hurts all the time. Life is such a joy when you leg and foot hurt, isn't it?

Once  Buford comes off for good, we will have a pool party! And there will be coconut cake! I promise!

Bootford! Now that's hilarious!

Well, here's an update (FWIW)....One of the guys on the Planning Commission is a podiatrist. After the meeting and after everybody left, he came over and told me to remove the boot; he wanted to see my foot. He told me exactly what the problem is and what will probably be done to correct it. It's called Posterior Tibial Tendonitis (I had to look it up as I wasn't quite sure how to spell it). So.....I'm on the right path for the most part. What makes it bad is that I can't take any NSAIDS for inflammation, since I developed an allergy to NSAIDS.

If it doesn't clear up, and I need surgery, he explained to me that they can clean out the tendon and re-attach it. The problem is the only way to re-attach a tendon is to screw it to the bone. 3-4 months of non-bearing weight, followed by 3-4 months of PT. He then told me that it could be a year til I'm back out on the road for my walks. A year, (When I had the knee done, I was popping 4 Advil 6 times a day for inflammation; I won't be able to do that this time.)

He also told me to stay off the foot as much as I can, even while wearing the boot. The whole purpose is to not move the foot and ankle and by walking, I'm still moving. So even with the boot on, I should still stay down as much as I can.

Came home and Rick and I had talked about it all. I'm going to start cooking ahead, just in case the surgery is required. Rick can make easy things: barbecue, Bisquick chicken, meatloaf, etc. I can get ahead on pasta sauces and some soups and such. And some casseroles will freeze well. We won't starve.

Well that's no fun.  At least you've been able to hear a second opinion I guess.   Lets hope whether or not surgery is needed; the healing takes a lot less time than they think!!

Wow, that is hard news!  Take what this guy said as serious incentive to stay off that foot and keep your ankle still!  That includes standing cooking and walking about in the kitchen.
The more you give the inflammation a chance to go down and healing take place the more chance you have of avoiding surgery and a serious amount of time recovering.  It may seem hard keeping still now but not nearly as hard as surgery and all the rehab' afterrwards.

Thank you. I'm trying to pay attention as much as I can. Rick has a union meeting today after work, so I drove myself into work. I walked into work carrying Buford, but put the boot on as soon as I got to my office.

@Winchester ....Maybe you can also try "Sports Taping" the ankle, like the sports trainers do for athletes, although you would have to see a "sports physiotherapist",  and even wearing a compression stocking or dollar store ankle brace may help you remember to be mindful.

I am not sure if Topical creams work for tendon inflammation but asking your doctor, or specialist may help.

It is so difficult to change the way we do things in a normal day, plus enjoy the summer months....so you have to get Creative.

Cooking ahead is great, since even as the tendon heals....you will always have the food to enjoy.
Maybe just use a stool to sit on.

You are so active...so basically you are very much like these FiFa soccer players with an injury. (Cristiano Ronaldo)
