Thank goodness she's still with us! I think waking her to feed her is necessary. You have excellent instincts!
I'm glad the diarrhea is better, but do still ask for clavamox. Just tell the vet you want to try it, that you feel she may have an infection due to the yellow diarrhea. Don't minimize it.
I was pretty sure she wasn't going to make it through the night but she's still hanging in there. For being such a small little thing she seems to have a lot of fight in her. And as long as she's fighting, we'll keep fighting for her.
Yes, and I have some awesome news! I'm getting her the antibiotic and no more diarrhea! She just had a bowel and it was semi formed like it was before she she tanked! I never thought I'd be so happy to see cat poo!
On a side note is it normal for one eye to open before the other? The black one has one eye semi open and the other is still shut.
She is doing great! Yesterday she was moving, actually was trying to escape out of the box with black one because I was running a bit late on feeding them. Her twitching has subsided a great deal and she's moving the one leg the vet was concerned may need to be ambutates because she couldn't extend it very, far. The only concern I still have with her is when you pick her up she is still like a limp noodle and during feeds she won't hold her head up even when she moves around her head droops.
You can massage her leg very gently a few times a day to stimulate it to work better. Massage increases oxygen flow through the muscles, and between massage and her using it, hopefully there will be no permanent damage.
Let's wait and see if her neck gets stronger. Does she hold her head up otherwise?
Yes and yes! I gave her the first dose this morning because it was late by,the time my husband had gotten home with it. As for her using her head it seems like a hit and a miss. Sometimes she'll hold it up for a split second and then she drops it.
Okay. Usually by day three on the clavamox they show great improvement. Try to dose her on time so it stays in her system precisely.
It sounds like she may get strong enough to hold her head up eventually, if there's no permanent damage. I cannot stand the way vets are so quick to want to amputate or put to sleep. I won't get on my soap box, but I think they should try other things first.
Your kitten is such a fighter! I'm so glad you are too!
How much is she eating now? And can you post a picture of them when you get a chance?
I have some very sad news. The white one has passed away. She was doing so good this morning and then all of a sudden she just quit. She wasn't moving, she wasn't eating even when I tried to force feed her she wouldn't swallow at all, her breathing kept getting shallower and shallower. And eventually nothing at all from her. I did my best to keep trying to get something down her but I'm guessing it just wasn't enough. We figured she wasn't gonna make it the rest of the day so she got lots of love.
Oh, I am so sad, choked up really. I'm so, so sorry. I thought we were on the upswing with her, and was so sure the antibiotics were the cure.
Oh ... Geez, I'm crying. Poor baby. She fought so hard. So did you. You gave her plenty of love and food. She passed in loving hands. I can only think she made it as far as she could. There was clearly a problem. Perhaps she had pneumonia.
Thank you for everything you did for her. I'll not soon forget her. Rest in peace over the Rainbow Bridge, Blessed One.
Let's try chin up and focus on the black kitten now. Please keep me posted on her progress.
Thank you, that means a lot because I was kinda feeling like I failed her even though I know I did everything I could for her. The black one is still hanging out with us, and loves to be out of the box and walk around. We also decided to name her so she is now Gizmo. She has both of her eyes open and drinking around 8-10 ml and is drinking out of a bottle.
