Also, I have a feeling that I'm going to be joining this thread soon....mine and Ian's mutual best friend keeps cooing over us and Ian is getting all...weird about certain things and my parents have suddently decided to treat me like an adult and my mom asked me if I needed birth control (:censor::censor::censor:?!) AND our anniversary is on Saturday....dun dun dun!
We call them Stag and Hen nights which is another term for a bridal shower/bachelor party
So the stags are the men and the doe's/hens are the girls.
I've got my neices on the 28th of this month but i'm in Inverness that weekend.

Isn't it funny how mom's can be so naive at times? I had a friend whose Mom asked her the same thing right before her wedding and she had also been on BC for a couple of years already!

hope you have a videographer, that was the one thing I didn't have that I wish wish wish I had, cause as the bride you really don't get to enjoy the actual ceremony, cause first you're waiting in the back, and then you're so caught up in the moment

Dear me, i only got to cast a look at the thread again now
, been off for quite a few days
Last week my bf thought out *loud* about how an engagement ring for christmas would be...
In the meantime (that is, on 29th April
) we'll make our families meet, my parents and maybe my brother will come over, my bf's mum and his sister +her family plus the two of us will go out for a nice big lunch and then have some more chat over coffee and cakes
I'm so excited! Finally!!!
Now I hope that the two clans will like each other though I'm pretty positive about that - my dad met my bf's mum when he drove me over as I was moving in here and a few days after that, my mum meant to call me, but got mixed up with the landline numbers and ended up talking for 2 hours with MIL-to-be!
(they never met before, mind you!)
The biggest asset I think will be my nieces, they are the cutest and most lovable girls you can think about, you just wanna eat them alive!
Especially the younger one (10) who keeps hugging me and declared me her fave aunt on Christmas Eve is to die for!

As Susan said they are called different things depending where you are. Here in Canada we usually call them Stag and Doe's or Buck and Doe's.
We have a big hall rented and expect 200 people to show up. Everyone buys a ticket and we serve drinks and have draws for door prizes. The guys will spend the night playing poker (we are going to have a few tables set up) and the girls will be able to dance.

Bradley's mom is planning a Jack and Jill shower (like a Stag and Doe shower....actually, I like the term Stag and Doe more...hmmm
) for Bradley and I. She's planning a low-key cookout/pool party type thing, though I'm not supposed to know about it

I've asked another friend of mine to be a bridesmaid. I originally just asked 4 friends, but it's been bothering me to think that I wouldn't have my good high school friend up there with me on the big day. So I sent her a really sweet card asking her to be my bridesmaid, so my fingers are crossed that she'll say yes!
