I came home last night to three kittens in my driveway. I thought it was just a matter of time before I met them as I have seen two adult cats roaming around the neighborhood. I fed them last night but they would not get anywhere near me. Everytime they saw me coming they would run away. And late last night when my roomate took the dog out she saw the Mom near the babies. I really hope that I can find a way to help these babies and Mom and Dad before they get hit by a car or injured by another animal in the neighborhood.

I am going to contact the lady who helped me trap my cat (Tyson) later today but with all the trapping she has been doing lately I hope she can help. I live in Northern NJ, Essex county, does anyone know of a TNR program for the Mom and Dad???? Any help or advice would be appreciated....

Thanks

Hi All -

Some friends came over last night from a local animal rescue group to help trap the kittens. Well, we didn't get any kittens yet but we got the Mama.. She is so cute, small little calico (Spelling???) girl. She is being taken to the vet today to be tested, and spayed... Surpriseingly enough she seemed friendly but we'll see what happens. I am going to try and trap the kittens this afternoon so they can be seen by the vet today....

Wish me luck!!!

I have been so busy trapping these past couple days I haven't been able to give you all an update. So here goes....

We trapped three kittens and their Mama last night and the night before. Two kittens are girls and one is a boy. They all tested negative and except for a few hisses they are friendly.... Very Scared
but friendly

We had one in a temporary dog crate last night and she wiggled her way out of it, so at 1 AM I was chasing a feral kitten around my house. I finally got her and secured her in a carrier with food and water until I can get the cat condo at 1:00 today. The sad thing is we still have one kitten at large. I think she/he saw the other kittens get trapped and now is hiding from us. I set the trap again at 6AM this morning and nothing
I am going to set it again when I get home from work at 2:00 and I am hoping to get the last one by tonight. I'm not sure I can handle another night of trapping till 1 AM.

I have to give all of you credit who do this all the time. It is like a full time job... It is so exhausting and fustrating and sometimes sad when you know one little one is left by himself

It really takes a special person to do rescue work.

Any advice for my new feral kittens would be appreciated. Thanks for all your support and kind words

Good Luck trapping tonight. Some people swear by KFC in the trap...perhaps you can try that.

Good News

We got the last kitten tonight and we are soooo excited

They are going a little crazy now trying to get out of the cat condo but they are doing great. They are all healthy and all but the last one have been to the vet, and he will go on Monday. They are pretty funny because they are not agressive at all they just hiss at you like crazy but are all joy's...... We have two little boys and two little girls. One light gray and white, one dark gray and white, one calico, and one little orange boy!!

I will update you all sometime this weekend. Thanks for the good vibes, they really helped

And by catching this family, you have prevented countless of unborn kittens. So from the rescue community I say 'THANK YOU'.

The vet should test for all known diseases, fleas, and parasites. Also ask him to do a ringworm test (he will use a special light) for that test.

Congrats on a difficult job done well!

Thanks.... I am not going to try and touch the ones that are hissing at me but I will pick the two girls who are starting to trust me.

The two girls are little loves

I am also goin to start going inot the room tonight and reading to them and talking tot hem in a low soft voice. The two boys were so mean to me last night, I was a litle discouraged but after reading some of the other posts I am encouraged agin.

The little orange one is at the vet today so I have to call and check on him and see when I am going to pick him up.

I came home yesterday from work to find a scary situation with my foster kittens. The little gray one "Bonnie" was throwing up and her stool was loose. We are having a bad heat wave here in NJ so I brought her downstairs with me where it is cooler and she kept getting worse. I was holding here and she just feel over in my lap, then it looked as if she were twitching. I rushed her tot he vet (thank god she took us at the last minute) and we had to wait about a 1/2 hour. In that 1/2 hour Bonnie started to look better and when the vet saw her she was back to her normal self.

The vet seems to think that she may have had a little heat related incident and she may have been running a fever. And by the time the vet saw her it broke... I felt so bad for her.

So, the vet gave her some fluids and told us to monitor her and just in case it was a virus she have us something. It was really scary and I was so nervous for Bonnie.

My friend came over last night and picked up the kittens to keep at her house until the heat breaks. I think that is in their best interest. My apartment is three floors and the third floor can get very HOT

So, on Monday they are going to come back to my house
I am really starting to love them.... I am glad that nothing serious was wrong.

Oh that is scary! I'm glad it all turned out okay though.

Kittens are so easy to fall in love with aren't they?
