Sorry I haven't posted since this thread was announced. I did 32 minutes either walk, run or brisk walk w/grade on my treadmill Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was off day. I had business meeting for dinner and most people ordered dessert. JUST SAY NO!!!!!!!!!!
But anyhow back tonite as my 10% increase for mileage goes into effect so I can do up to 2.1 miles at a time. I started to do the 3-5 minutes warm up then a mile run-still pretty slow pace at about 4.2-4.3 mph. Then walk run until I get close to my mileage them cool down. However I am having the same problem that stops me from using treadmill (too cold outside yet) and I live in country so I really can only "run" on the road and its sloppy from the melting snow. Anyhow-I have a big arch in my back so I've been getting a stiff back from being on the treadmill-I've asked my sister who is a college coach but unless I go to her college a have someone observe me I'm kindof SOL for the moment. But I don't know if I should be leaning forward, I think I'm walking to straight ??? I don't have this problem if I walk/run outside. I do try to really swing my arms around but its a lower pain that is quite annoying. Or could I stretch this out???? I'm one of the most inflexible people around.
Good job for everyone else!!

Gail, way to go getting in 3 workouts 3 days in a row!

That is awesome that you are increasing your mileage- what wonderful progress!
I do not know how to advise you on your poster/back problems (hopefully someone reading this can though!), but I do hope that you are able to keep up the great work. You are a real inspiration!!!

Thank you!

I actually may go to Curves today and do just 1 trip around the circuit (each circuit trip takes 15 minutes) and only do light work on each machine. This way, I'll still get 3 workouts in this week and still not overstrain my muscles.
It is just nagging at me that I'll sound like too much of a hypocrite if I only work out twice this week
That sounds like it will work out great Amy, I'm glad I could help! And please, don't worry about being a hypocrite!!! You are a WONDERFUL motivator!! Sometimes we all have to miss or tone the workout down if our bodies tell us too. Trust me Amy, you are quite the inspiration for all who see this thread!

I wish I could help you more but like they always tell us, "Instructors should not give advice on pain issues, unless said instructor has a certification in that too!" But, I will say that a lot of people have gait issues that they don't even know about. That might play a part in it. Of course, that would go along with having someone observe you. The motto in exercise is that if it's causing you a "bad" pain, you should lay off of it for a while. Stretching is always good and will actually help you to live longer, so absolutely stretch!
Hope you are able to get the help you need with it!

Thanks, I really try to watch the position of my feet and knees while on the treadmill. It only happen after I been on it for a few weeks to-but not when I'm outside.

I made it to Curves today! I only did one trip around the circuit, but I do not feel any more sore than I did beforehand (which was pretty bad to begin with) and I was just so HAPPY to get some sort of exercise in. I won't be able to get to Curves tomoww (I'm working 7-7 and Curves closes at 7) but I'll get there Thursday and Friday.

How about everyone else?

Today was pretty good... but I just had a scoop of ice cream and I've been sipping a beer with dinner but its low cal low carb beer... ha ha. Add low taste to that list too.

I got the first coat of paint on the room today. Tomorrow I will do a second coat and touch ups.
If I get a lot done before lunch I might take hubby to work and go to the gym then pick him up. We'll see how much I get done.

yay!!! Great work everyone!! Brendan's parents just left dinner and I am soooooo full. I ate some things that are not allowed on my diet plan, but I tried to eat small portions so I am not too concerned.

Tomorrow I meet with my trainer for an hour. I plan to get there 30 min early though and do some cardio too.

Well, I didn't do a darn thing yesterday, but - I can't go to Curves every night. I need to get home at a reasonable hour and hang out with my boyfriend before I start dinner a couple times a week because he's already jealous that I stay after work to talk to all of you!

I'll be working out after work today - already looking forward to it!

I'm not about to get on to anyone about breaking their diet on this thread; this is, after all, the workout support thread, not the diet support thread, hehe

Just wanted to say it's wonderful that we have more and more people participating in this thread who understand the importance of exercise and health. Y'all are all awesome!!

HAHA, ok I'll save that for a separate thread. I feel like a small break in my diet though is a - ok just as long as I keep working out hard at the gym. Thanks for all the support guys, you all rock!!! I feel so motivated.

Today Brendan and I will be heading to the UCF gym to get some cardio in (I'm mega sore from teaching my class yesterday...teach me to slack off the whole Spring Break)! Brendan rarely exercises so I feel like it's up to me to get him moving. He hasn't been able to get into a pattern so it's still quite difficult for him.

Great job everyone!!! And trust me, it's ok to break your diet!! If you didn't allow yourself to splurge every once in a while, you'd go nuts from your lack of sweets/high fat food/etc and end up breaking it much worse in the end! So don't consider it a break from it, consider it part of the diet to keep you from feeling deprived of anything!!!

Great mood to be in Beryl!!!

Katherine, that is great that you can get your bf to work out with you (on occasion anyway!). Bradley played college baseball, so he is used to working out hard, but since the baseball days are gone, so are his workout habits. Not that Mr. 1% Body Fat has anything to worry about!

Brendan's brother Evan is the same way as far as body fat goes! He swam his whole life, all of the way through college, and was on the national team once I think and he's got like 4% body fat. He's 25 now and hasn't been swimming for a while but is STILL so lean! How lucky for them!!

I bet Evan has a killer bod!!!

Well, Bradley stays so thing because of the insulin that is pumped into him 24/7 due to diabetes. He said if anyone ever wanted to lose serious weight, all they'd have to do is take his insuline (of course, it'd probably kill them of make 'em real sick!)

Oh boy does he EVER have a hot bod!! He lives in Baltimore so I only see him a couple of times a year (though we were also in HS together for one year when he was a senior and I was a freshman) but I always find it hard not to drool over him. Brendan has the better overall package, but his brother is certainly not bad to look at either!

Interesting about the insulin. I definitely didn't know it makes you lose weight!
