90%+ of Nano's diet is "Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Superior Indoor Cat Nutrition" <-- quite a name!

For treats, I will warm up a can of 9 Lives in the microwave and Nano will really enjoy herself. For special treats, she also gets other premium brand freebies that I randomly stumble across.

Interesting results to this poll!

Hmmmmm I feed my boy Felidae as it is probably the best dry food.

Kotton and Missy get RX food - Kotton RD (she is way overweight) and Missy ZD as she has so many allergies.

Corkie is SUPPOSED To eat KD but won't! She wont' eat dry or canned of it and will ONLY eat Fancy Feast! <sigh>

Hi Pat & Alix, I've read on one group that Avoderm can make your cat fat because of the high amount of avocado oil that's supposed to make the fur great. Is this true at all???
So it shouldn't be used for a long time?

I hope you could clear this out for me. Thanks!

I did not see my cats becoming fat on this, and in fact used it with my show cats, back in the day when I was showing.

The thing to look at would be the overall fat content of the food - avoderm is 20%, as is Felidae, and Nutro Complete Care Natural Choice adult is 19%, PetGuard adult was 15%.

I would not rule it out because of the fat content or use of avocado oil...I *am* glad I changed as avoderm has ground yellow corn as it's second most prevalent ingredient (in it's chicken meal formula for adults/kittens), and that's not what I've decided I want to see in a premium priced food!

I feed my cat whiskas, and treats, Ive got several different dry and wet food.
one of them is the special brand Nutrience, but teufel doesnt like it adn refuses to eat it, so i leave it there untill he eats it all.
at the supermarket i go to now provide whiskas but they are for adult cats, they also have this other brand that starts with o i dont remember what its called but he seems to be content with it.
He doesnt have a particular brand he likes
but he does love to eat ham and chicken!

Mostly Nutro, both canned and dry. I also feed canned Pet Guard ($.89 for a 14-ounce can!) and dry Chicken Soup on occasion.

I stay away from all Purina brands (e.g. Purina, Pro Plan, Fancy Feast, Friskies) because they are owned by Nestle and I make a point to boycott their products to the greatest possible extent. I also avoid Science Diet, mostly because it's overpriced and the ingredients are lousy but it markets itself as the greatest food ever. It's just a particular pet peeve of mine.

When we brought Mika home a month ago, we gave him the same thing that the breeder did... Science Diet. When I started reading about it, I coudn't believe she hadn't done more research... I understand that it's basically pure junk, and she feeds this to her Grand Champion? Ew.

Mika had AWFUL stinky poo on SD. With his litter box in our bedroom during his adjustment period, it WOKE ME UP it was so bad.

We switched to Wellness wet for evening feedings and have left the SD dry out for day snacking. We plan on phasing out the dry as well, but most likely to Purina One. The store had no PO Kitten today, so I had to get the only kitten they had which was regular kitten chow... which I'm afraid might be just as bad. The next time we get to the pet store we'll stock up on something better and will switch him to the Purina One Adult that the grocery carries when he's an adult. Anyone have any comments on the Kitten Chow?

The Wellness immediately and totally stopped the stink. I was amazed at the difference just looking at the food in the can. Very very moist and you can see the bits of carrot right in there! We're sold, and he eats it like he's eaten it forever. It's a bit harder convincing the hubby to switch to expensive dry, but I'm sure replacing it with more feedings of the wet will suffice.

Purina foods are all at least as bad as Science Diet - byproducts and cheap fillers. Purina One and Pro Plan are both about on par with Science Diet, but Cat Chow and Kitten Chow are much worse. Just look at the ingredients and there will be no question in your mind.

If you're looking for a good, inexpensive dry food, try Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. I get 18 lb bags for $19. And remember that buying big bags in the pet supply store means that pound for pound, you're often paying less for the good stuff than you were for the grocery store stuff.

I can not find a seperate product from the Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Indoor Cat - sounds to me like some of the label language

Nutro keeps changing the names of its products, which confuses everybody. Part of that it due to recipe changes necessitated by ever-changing EU import regulations.

I always check for soy, since Jamie isn't supposed to get it because of his hyperactivity. I just know that the names here have been changed several times over the past two years, because everybody keeps asking on the German cat sites I visit.
