Hey all! :wavey:
Its my first time having a pregant cat with me and ive been looking for some reassurance to make sure all is going well! Shes about a year and half, and it was definitely and accident when she became pregnant. And i didnt start suspecting until she was getting bigger, but only her tummy. Im a bit scared because she did miscarry one, about 2 weeks ago. I watched her like a hawk, because it was a weekend, and the vets around me are pretty expensive. Of course i would find a way to take her in anyway, but she seemed fine. No bleeding, mucus, vomiting, or lack of apetite, she was up and playing and didnt seem hurt or sick at all. Even now she seems perfectly healthy, and a couple days ago i began to feel the babies. I was also wondering if anyone know what color the babies might be? Ill post a picture of her, and the dad(which is my sisters cat, she was cat sitting mine when i suspect she got pregnant). Just any advice or help would be grestly appreciated! She has a nesting box, that she has zero interest in, and her food and water is always full. Her nipples are quite prominent, but they arent feeling fuller yet., and no milk has came out so i supsect shes still maybe 2 weeks away from giving birth!

Beautiful cats Welcome to the site
lots of support available for you especially on the special day!

It's hard to predict a litter, I suspect most likely shorthaired. If the mom cat was outside at all

the kittens may have a few dad's.

Can you describe the miscarriage episode have never experienced myself I would be very alarmed.

Did the mom cat go into labour in order to deliver at all?  You didn't see a Vet over this but are confident

rest of the litter is fine. I hope you hear feed back that you can have a safe happy delivery.

Since I got her, at about 3 months old, she's never been outside, and if I trust my sister(I do) she wasn't outside while in her care either. Actually I wasn't aware it had happened, I'm assuming sometime close to morning, because I woke up around 8 for work, and the little kitten was on the floor at the end of my bed. It wasn't a fully formed kitten and had no hair, and Big didn't seem to be in distress. She must have been very quiet because I'm a light sleeper. And at this time I wasn't fully sure she was even pregnant. I looked up things for hours, I was super stressed about it, and mostly it said to watch her carefully for any signs of infection or things like that, vomiting, blood coming from her, lack of appetite, things like that. I believe the remaingin kittens are fine (hopefully!) About 3 days ago I started feeling movement, and they sure move pretty often, when I'm touching her stomach at least.

Yes, as you have bega to feel the alive kittens a couple of days ago, its about 2 weeks left.  As you think.  They often dont take their nest beforehand.  In nature they dont want to get the nest smelly nor flea infested too early.  But she surely appreciates to know there is a nest waiting!

Good she has access to plenty of food.  It shall be of kitten-type.  Dry, and also some wet.   goats milk is a good supplement, useful also for supplementing kittens if the need would arise.

The kittens:  Daddy is black, momma is a brown tabby, meaning she carries black too.  So the kittens will tend to be either black, or brown tabbies.  Someone may possibly be gray, if the parents carry the recessive dilutation gene.  Theoretically someone may be a point - if the parents happen to carry recessive point gene.  The same with longhair.

Please invest in some supplies for the kittens in advance. Kitten milk replacer (kmr) is important to have on hand. The powdered kind by PetAg is best; avoid Hartz and Sargent. A needleless syringe in case you need to supplement is needed, too. Also, get a small scale so you can weigh the kittens daily.

Do you plan to spay mom after this litter?

Yes, ive been giving her kitten food since I first discovered she was pregnant, and I've given her wet food, but she doesn't seem to like it much, but it is there for her.
I believe I will make an appointment to get her spayed, soon after. It might take a bit longer than I'd like because at the moment, I'm in a hotel, due to mold and the ceiling falling in over the bathroom. The hotel is pet friendly, I wouldn't dream of leaving her somewhere else, I don't like to be away from her for long periods, because I'm a worrier!
So the hotel is taking a bit of money, but I've called around and a vet a bit away isn't very expensive and they have good reviews, so I'm putting away money for that!
Do you know if Walmart carries a good KMR? The only thing in my area that I would think might have it is Walmart, no Petsmart or PetCo. We do have a shelter nearby, maybe I can call them and see if they have any ideas as well?
That's good to know about the nests! I have a couple places set up wear she usually lays, but when I'm not home, but lately as soon as I get home she lays wherever I'm at. And since I'll probably still be in the hotel when the babies come, so I'll be able to keep a close eye on them. I didn't really want her to get pregnant at all. Just in case complications, but now that she is I'm very excited and worried!

Walmart carries the powdered PetAg KMR. All the big chain pet stores carry KMR as well. You should have no trouble finding it.

Will you be moving back home after repairs are made?

Okay awesome, I'll get that!
Yes definitely, its been really rainy and a bit snowy still. And on the house the bathroom fell in because the roof hadn't been repaired in some years and the landlord didn't listen when I said it needed to be replaced. So the repairs are taking longer than I though they would, they said maybe another 3 weeks, at most. I'm planning on keeping all the kittens until they're about 10 weeks old, maybe longer. In definitely keeping on forever, and my sister is taking one as well. I have no idea how many there are, I'm thinking two. Possibly three. She is definitely getting larger now.

I will look for that as well then! I bought the KMR this morning before work and a little scale as well.
I've been reading so much in these forums so hopefully I'm prepared and its making me so nervous. She seems perfectly healthy but I was wondering is it very common for mother cats to have problems during labor? And is it very common for kittens to die? Maybe I should atop reading so much! It seems like there's tons of things that could go wrong, but getting anything I might need, and hopefully that's good enough for now! And I'm praying now problems arrive!
Thanks for everyone's advice!

The majority of cats have productive labors, no issues, and healthy kittens! Most kittens survive with no problems as well. It's always best to be prepared, but no sense in worrying needlessly. We're here to help with problems in addition to basic questions! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Is it normal to be able to feel them moving and then the next day not? I haven't felt them move today. And she's kind of been like twitching. Or tensing up while she's asleep lately?

I don't think she's far enough along to be going into labor! Or if she is, I don't think the kittens will be fully developed? I was guesstimating maybe 1 and a half weeks yet until she would safe to have them? I don't know how early they can have them though.

I mean I'm not exactly sure when she got pregnant since she was at my sisters from December 29-January 6 so it could possibly be almost time but in only started feeling them about 6 days ago.

You're right - it's too early. You won't always feel the kittens move. They are more active at some times than other times. The twitching is probably just your cat dreaming. I don't see anything to worry about right now. She could have up to two more weeks depending on when she conceived.

Just a question, no kittens yet, but today I noticed a bit of pinky clear discharge on some blankets from her. Not a lot, maybe a penny sized amount, and a bit of what looked like regular blood on her bed, maybe a droplet sized amount. just wondering what it could be?

Its normal!  We dont want lotsa of real blood, but some droplet may happen.  Pinkish or brownish discharge is quite common.   Clear discharg very routine.
