I think they finally figured it out. One of them is drinking and the others are really trying now.

Momma hasn't delivered the placenta of the 4th living kitten yet though.

She will deliver the placenta. You can pinch off the cord so the kitten can move freely and does not get injured if the cord pulls at its naval. Pinch it about an inch or so away from the belly of the kitten. They should all latch on soon!

The biggest one, kitten 2, is doing a pretty good job of feeding. I cut the cord so kitten 4 could move and momma has pushed a few times but placenta is still in there and I feel maybe 2 more kittens inside

I think she just had her placenta. She blocked my view but I'm hoping she ate it

That's good. Leave room for the kittens to move away if they get too warm. I assume you put the heating pad set on low under the blankets? The rice sock should also be wrapped in a towel. We don't want the kittens getting burned.

Have all kittens latched to a nipple yet, or has mom been too busy?

They have all tried but none of them have had a good drink. Momma seems pretty confused by the kittens. She keeps moving away from them to clean herself then lays back down and I have to move the kittens back to a nipple for them to try and drink

Sometimes it takes mama cats 24 hours to settle into their new role.

I feel asleep and it seems like all kittens have been able to drink. Momma also has had a few contractions it looks like and I think there might be another kitten or two

Moms can also experience after labor pains which make it appear that another kitten is coming, but are really just the uterus contracting back to size. Time will tell.

At this point, baby 2&4 look completely fine, 1&3 are a bit small with bent hind legs, baby 5 looks very under developed, and baby 6 looks small but was just born so I haven't got a good look

What do you mean by bent hind legs?

In what ways does 5 look underdeveloped?

Which one was stillborn?

Can you weigh the kittens? Pictures would help.

Okay. The legs can be straightened with gentle massage several times a day to warm the muscles and tendons first, then gently attempting to straighten the legs. Kittens are very malleable at this age, so the sooner you start the better. The legs will return to normal if you follow this protocol. Splints can also be used, but NEVER force the legs without warming thrm up first. I will send you a link with pictures.

Small kittens will grow with proper nutrition. You need to weigh them daily using a kitchen scale that weighs in grams. Each kitten needs to gain a minimum of 6-10 grams per day. If not, you must supplement several times a day, so you need to purchase a can of powdered kitten formula.

Can you weigh the kittens?

You said you are fostering. Is this through a rescue that may be able to assist you with supplies and vet costs?

I foster with the humane society. They have a vet 3 days a week and they said they would ask him if I need to bring the kittens in. Momma won't feed the kittens anymore. After all were born, she perked up and just wants me to give her attention. My husband is away on business with the car so I can't even go out and get formula

You need to close her up in a room with her kittens so she will feed them! Stay out for awhile and just check on her periodically. Make sure she has her food, water, and litter. She should feed them if left alone with them.

She cannot be allowed to not feed her kittens. If she is not feeding them you'll need to contact the Humane Society for help asap if you cannot feed them yourself. This is very important! The kittens can die very quickly without food!

Have you had a chance to read the links I sent regarding the kittens' twisted legs? This is very important too!

I took them to the humane society to get them check and they had to put down the ones with bent legs. They are going to let the very small ones go home with me and try to feed though
